33cl bottle. Pitch black pour with a tall tan head with good retention. Roasted malts, cherries, brewed coffee as well as roasted coffee beans, pine resin. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and a hoppy chocolate bitter aftertaste.

Thank you to Tom for this very thoughtful gift. Pours very dark brown in color with a medium dark tan head. The aroma is roasted and malty, with coffee, chocolate, a little bit of smoke, grapefruit, and pine. The taste has a good amount of bitterness. There is grapefruit and pine, a very heavy coffee, chocolate, resin, and pineapple. I find a mild yet lingering coffee aftertaste. Medium bodied, kind of a sticky texture, and above average in carbonation. This is a solid Black IPA. And the artwork on the bottle is pretty cool as well.

sample from draft at van moll, poured a murky dark brown colour with a tanned head. nose has a lot of coffee upfront, lot’s of dark malts, chocolate, wich pretty masks the hop notice. grapefruit in the back, with some citrus, taste is quite dry, sweet chocolate, and coffe. finish has still a nice bitter hop kick to it. enjoyable black ipa

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2016 New rating: 0.33 l bottle sampled during Pampus tap takeover at ’HOPPA!’, 2016 version, best before end 2017. Black with a frothy, brown head. Roasty-malty, just slightly fruity aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, burnt nuts and hints of mango. Roasty-malty, slightly fruity taste of coffee, dark chocolate, burnt nuts and hints of mango, followed by a medium long, roasty-bitter finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel. Not a huge difference to the ’aged’ 2014 version, a tad more fruity but also a bit roastier and drier, overall less a of Black IPA than their ’Hoppy Stout’.

Old rating: 0.33 l bottle from ’Tabak’s Wijndiscount & Bierwinkel’, best before end 2016 (apparently the 2014 version, 2016 version was actually already in the stores...). Clear, very dark red to black with a thin, frothy, stable, brown head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of milk chocolate, coffee beans, vanilla and hazelnut, hops are barely detectable. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee beans and hazelnut, followed by a short, roasty-bitter, minimally hoppy-fruity finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, flat. With some age, this is a very nice stout/porter. Will try to find a fresh example to compare. (7/4/7/3/14/3.5)

Drinking from a 33cl bottle. A strong coffee aroma. The clear black beer has a small brown head. In the taste coffee, dark chocolate, roast malt. Low carbonated.

W aromacie czekolada i nuty chmielowe, nieco żywiczne, słonecznikowe, nieco popiołowej paloności. w smaku bardzo podobnie, czekolada, chmiel, podwyższona pełnia, i brak odczucia alkoholu. Dobre Black IPA. Thanks @Douberd.

Bottl brought back from Amsterdam. Pours black with a nice big frothy beige head. Good rich coffee aroma. The flavour starts with light spice and lots of coffee before a bitter finish. No where ear as hoppy as I was expecting - the flavour is all coffee and roast malts. Extremely tasty all the same.

Ziet er uit en ruikt sterker dan een dubbel IPA, meer imperial stout. Niet verkeerd natuurlijk. Wel hoppige smaak. Lekker!
