Bottle 33 cl. Pours pitch black with a medium tan head and an aroma of cherries, roasted malts, cacao and mocca. The taste is pretty sweet with bitter and roasty notes and a medium- to longlasting bitter/roasty finish. Nice, but not that special.

Hmm black IPA... This particular examples is very black indeed, with a very toffee and roasted and even butter milk aroma. More stout than black IPA, but tasty so I don’t complain. Thick chocolate, strong hop bitterness. Sure it has lots of hops, but it doesn’t have the freshness that I expected. Anyway it doesn’t matter because it’s rich and full of flavour and just tasty. Thick mouth feel. Nice brew! And quite cheap! (33cl bottle from SpeciaalBierPakket)

Black with coffee coloured, lacy head. Nice aroma with roasted malts, some hoppiness too. Strong tasting but nice balance.

Dammit what a fine beer. Liquorice, coffee and deep dark flavors. Really wonderful. Tap at Het Arendsnest

Bottle @ home. Aroma is big on roast and liquorice, flavour is the other way around, earthy herbal and fruity hops, medium bitterness, long lingering roast. Nice one.

Bottled. Sampled about 20cl I guess. The aroma has really nice chocolate and cacao, which I smelled even better while cleaning my sons clothes (1,5 year old) after he picked the glass from the table and poured half of it over himself. I wouldn’t advise this by the way. Ah, yeah there’s some piney hops as well. Black coloured beer with a big beige head. Bit gushing. The taste is moderate bitter, roasted, has chocolate, some pine. Bitter dry finish. Medium bodied. Good hoppy stout.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 26 Feb 2014) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, grapefruit and a touch of mint. Malty, roasted, hoppy taste with black coffee, dark chocolate, pine needles, grapefruit and a fairly dry finish with a generous piney bitterness. More than medium body, quite dry. Very tasty and solid black IPA. Lovely beer.

Bottle: Served in a Duvel glass: Wow, pours blacker than most Imperial Stouts and has a darker foamy head as well. Looks very promising. Oily. Nice! Strong roast, coffee and chocolate aromas with hints of hops, herbs and plants. Flavours of roast, bitters, herbs, marzipan, marshmellow, chocolate, light floral tones, some coffee, some hops, tiny bit of something fruity light apricot and/or citrus and a sprinkle of yeast. Aftertaste is good roasty, chalky, some hay, bitter and floral tones. Low carbo, creamy oily close to silky mouthfeel, more medium to more fuller body and a oily thick creamy texture. Bit more hops and this would have been killer. Nevertheless a good beer! More like a stout! An Imperial Stout!
