Murky nut brown color, quickly vanishing head, lots of bubbles. Caramelly nose with peanuts and dates. Medium to full bodied. Plum soap flavor, caramelly-kandy sugary, slightly woody. Finish is suprsingly dry with nutty flavor, hops and alcohol. In its sweetness this is quite typical strong Dutch ale. Not bad.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is fruity malt, some hops and a touch of roast. Flavour is quite bitter, roasty and hoppy, some fruit. Some liquorice and spice, touch of alcohol.

2009 bottle, 750. Thanks, Clint! Pours crystal clear medium amber with a dense and creamy tan head. Toffee and caramel nose. Mild dusty quality. Creamy body with very mild carb. Caramel and a hint of chocolate on the mid palate. Lightly spicy with an estery quality.

@ PWBF 2011. The aroma has caramels/sugar, spice. Bit hazy, red-brown coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, on the fruity side, has caramel, spices. Medium bodied.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy aroma with hints of caramel. Fruity malty spicy yeasty flavor. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty finish.

Tap @ Kafe Belgie. Murky reddish brown colour, off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, sugar, fruity. Flavour is caramel malts, fruits, bit of spices. Good drinkable and well balanced.

@ Winterbierfestival PRZH. A red/brown colored beer, with a beige head. The has some hoppy bitter with caramel sweet. The taste has some fruits with caramel. There are also some hops with spices. The aftertaste is bitter with caramel.

Bottle from Bierkoning. On christmas 2009. Hazy brown body with minimal head. Hoppy and caramel nose. Taste of malts, spices and slight citrus notes. Okay. Not great though.

Bottle, 75cl, courtesy of fonefan. A nice-looking clear, dark golden beer with a nice off-white head sitting on top. Herbal, fruity notes in the aroma, on a caramel-sweet base. Sweet flavor with a hint of dms, some herbs and spices. Caramel too. Full-bodied and dry. Dry, bitter finish with caramel and a touch of spices. Not my idea of a christmas beer, but it works nicely as a beer for the dark, cold season. 090822
