Ohh No!
Clear bottle.. Twist off cap… 11:45pm… What have I gotten myself into? This could be a diuretic!

Pours a dark crimson brown body with almost no head. The aroma is sharp and vinous… I hope it’s not a Skunk Ape! Some light smoky notes in the flavor, dates, prunes, and a sweetness of molasses. Rather earthy notes of tobacco, boiled kale and compost dirt… In fact this beer is not a Skunk Ape, it’s just not all that terrific a brew!

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2007 A pretty decent effort by Efes given their less than outstanding pilsener. Real malt character with hints of coffee and milk chocolate. Medium bodied and not bad to look at. RERATE : On a second try I was much less impressed, overly sweet and adjuncty.

Good hint of malt in the aroma, which carries through surprisingly well. A decent beer that really surprised me.

Deep amber in color with a medium sized off-white head.Aroma of mildly skunked hops and sweet malt. Sweet tangy malt, bready flavor which fills the mouth with a full body. A very good beer considering the source.

Aubrey (3192) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - JUL 24, 2004
Clear and burgundy-brown; hardly any head to speak of. Soda-like mouthfeel ... tingly and prickly carbonation. Syrupy-sweet (maple) malt base. Notes of black licorice, raisins and roots (earth, plants, grass). Strangely fruity, with hints of yeast and sweet cereal grains. Kind of hot in the throat at times. Mild bitterness in the finish, but mostly just drying.

Light ruby with a thin off-white square. Caramel nose, sweet taste with a light cardboard taste. I’m sure that this would be better fresh on tap.

I can’t think of anything bad to say about this beer, it’s just not much of anything. Best comparison I can make is to Xingu, which I hated, but not as watery? This is thin but not as bad as this has more carbonation. Damn clear glass bottle allows this to have a bit of a skunk smell that has just of hint in the taste. I should also add that this is my first beer of this style so I can’t do a serious comparison. It’s not bad, but nothing great.

Caramelly and peaty, although very thin. Surprisingly fresh (but I think this is a recently new import). Finish is sweet and creamy.
