Beerenberger (1380) - Fischer, Texas, USA - DEC 14, 2012
Aroma is sweet malt, red fruit, and notes of caramel. Pours a dark brown with a nice mostly diminishing tan head. The taste is lightly sweet. Toasty malts, caramel, with hints of dark fruit and coffee. Medium body with soft carbonation. Overall, I was surprised - this was actually very good.

Aroma: dry plum, roasted nuts Appearance: dark red, small head Taste: medium bitterness, medium sweetness, slight sourness Palate: light body, long finish A Turkish approach to a stout, clear glass bottle might hinder the Taste...

bottle with screw cap. Clear dark brown with a small foam. Taste as a fermented Christmas brew.

Can. Pours reddish brown with spongy tan head, low carbonation, caramel aroma, roasted malt and caramel taste, medium finish with caramel aftertaste. Not bad for a large scale Turkish beer producer.

kramer (4866) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 20, 2014
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small foamy off-white head that faded to a thin film. The nose is slightly husky and nutty with a light coffee note. The flavor is pretty decent, some nice coffee and light roast, rather refreshing actually on a hot day. Light to medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Decent stuff.

Clear dark brown appearance with medium low head. Strong caramel and chocolate aroma. Taste doesn’t meet up the appealing aroma, but it’s still good and refreshing Dunkel style beer.

330ml bottle (thanks Mari & Kalm). Clear copper color. Small size, yellow head, stays. Dirty, caramel, sweet aroma. Sweet, caramel, hop extract in taste. Simple macro.

330ml bottle - thanks Marduk!
Unpleasantly sweet aroma, even from a distance. Close up it’s not good either, dry and papery. Scarily papery in the taste. Sweetness is just burnt sugar that fails to cover the unpleasantness. Palate is awful, like licking old photostat paper with its noxious chemicals. Looked good, a nice deep red, and a persistent small tan head. However, clear glass bottle, so the obvious penalty. Finish leaves me with the horror chemicals from the palate. Want to scrape my tongue clean!

Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is malt, roasted, caramel and some toffee. Taste is medium sweet with a sweet finish. Pretty much the best of the beasts in Turkey.

330ml Bottle as a gift brought back from Marmaris, Turkey:
Lots of malts & roasted notes plus faint hops & grain with caramel as well. Sugar & toffee makes an appearance too with some very faint fruits towards the end.
Caramel brown with a 1cm, bubbly head that is light brown & settles as a patchy lacing.
Roasted malts & some sweetness with some caramel & toffee from the nose. A little bit of spice comes through around the middle with hints of treacle as well.
Smooth & inoffensive with some bland patches & overall the beer seems a little thin. Some bitterness & touches of sweetness throughout as well. It’s an easy enough beer to drink & carbonation is about light medium in my opinion.

Not a bad Turkish offering, to be honest this is just about as good as I’ve tried from the country with only the odd exception. Definitely drinkable and easy going; it’s one worth picking up if you’re in the country but probably not if you mange to find it elsewhere.

330ml bottle from The Beer Cellar. Rating from late 2013. This beer while quite tasty was a little too thin bodied for me.
