bland hop aroma, very weak appearance with a frothy white head, watery and unpleasant, not worthy of the title pilsener, especially as rice is used in the brewing process.

I'll never forgte travelling around Turkey and after a hard day's sightseeing, returning to the hostel for a few bottles of Efes. Grand memories and a very decent beer.

Golden. Some hop in the aroma. Mild and pleasant to drink a warm summer day at Ulica Arbat...

Really nothing special. Pale straw color, little head. This beer gets some nasty reviews, but I bet it taste a little better closer to its home. Lord knows how this stuff is shipped.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2003 Bottled. Sweet lager. Sweet malt aroma. Some tingly hops at the finish. Not great. [1.7] And again... Tap, Yigitalp Bar, Istanbul. Soft, buttery and refreshing. Not great, but acceptable. Looks pretty with its bread dough head. We had this on several occasions in Turkey - both on tap and from the bottle. It's actually not that bad, and is the best straightforward lager in Turkey.

6/16/03 Draft in Turkish restaurant in Frankfurt. Fizzy yellow beer with large white head. Smells of citrus, lemon-orangey, and spicey hops. Unremarkable lager, a little sour with a biting finish. Light bodied and moderately carbonated. A Turkish immitation of a bad American lager?
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 duff (5484) - Lund, SWEDEN - JUN 22, 2003
Not that bad, i mean its pretty light and all, and fairly sweet. Some grassy hops dry it out towards the end, and its quite crisp. Theres not too many positives to come out of it, but it wasn't as bad as i was expecting, or even the aroma suggested. Still nothing to write home about. A little too sweet.

Consumed in Russia, this is my first Turkish beer. Yeasty lager aroma that is a little off. Gold in appearance; virtually no head nor lace. Nice dry lager flavor with a hint of bitterness. Basically a solidly average beer.
