Bottle. Plain and skunky odor; pretty nasty sweet and vegetable flavors. Also, beer’s expensive in Turkey; just stick to wine.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Golden color, skunky nose. Starts out on the sweet and bready side, finishes drier with some hops. OK.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottled. Yellow and a bit greenish colour, small white head. Malty sweet a bit unpleasant nose. Hayish hoppy flavour with hints of malt and paper. Horrible vegetably aftertaste.

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20
Light bread, malt aroma, musty. Pours a clear yellow, slight carbonation. Grassy taste. Acidy/vegetable aftertaste. Standard Euro-piss whose rightful place is swirling down the drain.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottled. A lime green coloured lager. The aroma is reminiscent of ice and some sweet petrol. The taste is grassy and sweet and a little floral - obviously there is a hop or two. Overall though quite poor.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Light yellow body with lots of fast moving carbonation. The aroma is canned carrots with some bread. The taste is cardboard with some celery in the finish. There is a harsh metallic finish. This is drinkable, but that is about all.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
MGC under small very short (20 second) lasting white head. Amusing mild stale hops, albumen and something almost malty n fruity. Head does not reconstitute on swirl. Brit bitter style low carb medium thin body. Flavour is 2 day old medium bitter drip tray and light sweet corny grain malt, yeah got the touch of fruit again. Actually the bitterness is quite reasonable at the end - pity about the start.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle: my first Turkish beer. Pours a very light yellow with a small white head. Light hop aroma with a touch of grape juce and apple. Flavor is mildly fruity with the same. Thin body. Mildly bitter finish but what is there is very short. Decent though.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Good colour but the head disappeared quickly. Popcorn aroma and, at first, a lack of significant taste and bitterness. Nevertheless this turned out to be one of those beers that grows on you. By the end I was quite enjoying its eccentricity.

I’m not a huge pilsener lover but Efes is thoroughly tolerable--nice maltiness, none-too-oppressive hoppiness. In a Turkish restaurant (or even better, on a Turkish beach) Efes is worth the beerspace
