Light golden body with a very thin white head that dies very quickly. Aroma of metal, malt, a bunch of sugars and quite a bit of alcohol too. Medium-bodied; Dense, potent metallic and malt flavours with some strong sweetness, a lot of metal and even more alcohol - very strong flavour. Aftertaste shows a lot of metal and malt - not much complexity though, but a syrupy finish. Overall, a strong and potent beer with a lot of alcohol and metallic flavours with some malt and a lot of sugars tucked in. I sampled this 50 cL can purchased from a small market in Istanbul, Turkey on 16-August-2011 for TL4,00 sampled in my hotel room later in the evening.

Yellow coloured and clear. Has a white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma is malty-sweet and a bit unpleasent alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet, warming alcohol. Syrupy texture and lively carbonation.

Efes Xtra is one of my favourite strong beers after Tuborg Red. Basically it’s a strong beer that doesn’t always give you the bitter finish of a strong beer. And surprisingly the cans come at the exact same level as the bottles.

schmeckt durchschnittlich gut, das Aroma hat mehr potenzial, entfaltet sich aber nicht ganz. Sehr süffig trotz des hohen Alkoholgehalts, den man kaum bemerkt. Test vom 8.1.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 6,8,9,7,14,9 - 8,50

12/12 0.5 l can thanks to my mum who brought from Turkey. It poured pale golden body with medium to bigger head that lived for quite long time. Lemony and sugary malty aroma, not really like strong lagers, more similar to malt liquors. Very sweet, grainy and alcoholic flavor, over the top. Slightly bitterish herbal also, but alcohol itself gives a note of that ugly bitterness. Fuller in body, of course, sticky with too sweet and again alcoholic finish. Could a beer be more sweet than this? And in uglier way?

Canned (thanks Christoph N!). Golden colour, not much head. Aroma is metallic, petrol like, quite evil and alcoholic. Flavour is quite much the same. A not too pleasant malt liquor...

Much-feared 500ml tin. Bright gold with a loose sudsy head dying to nothing. Sweetcorn chutney spread over light spruce and watery apple aroma; some glue and sherbet, maybe Madeira cake. Syrupy and almond-accented with the alcohol immediately apparent; boozy warm, stilling carbonation, pastry, rubber, horrible paracetemol bitterness...and yet, incredibly bland and lacking in fruitiness or any discernible personality at 7.5%. Vile and pointless.
