dark yellow color, foamy kind of head, very little aroma, a hint of hop bitterness in the finish, but not a particularly flavorful beer.

Enjoyed a pint of this one at the bar at Egan and Sons in Montclair, NJ. This beer is a Helles by style, and is a nice one, with really good balance. Pours to a beautiful, bright, golden color, with a thick, white head, and a good carbonation. The nose is crisp and clean with good pale malt aroma paired with some grassy hop aromas that balance. The palate is crisp, with good pale malt flavor, on a smooth and round body. This beer finishes with more good crisp pale malt flavor up front, then ends with just enough hop bitterness to balance this beer out. Well done, straight foward pale lager. Balance defines this beer, and this one is a nice, easy drinking brew, but has enough flavor and character, making it enjoyable, even for a beer geek. I liked this one. Egan and Sons is an Irish inspired pub, and it is a beautiful place, the long bar is awesome, and a great place to relax and enjoy beer. Great place to visit if you are in the Montclair, NJ area.

6.29.05 Ok, I’ll give it to Egan’s for this having been their first batch of brews at the time. Even so, only the fact that I don’t expect all that much from pale lagers allows for me to pass over this. Good for drinking a few, but not at $5 per pint.

was that trippel or tippel? oh well, maybe someday they’d do a trippel here, but I don’t see it in the near future. on tap, color is bright golden yellow, off white thick foamy head that is short. a little lager-like sour grassy aroma. bitter flavor - kind of like when you have oj right after brushing your teeth. medium to high carbonation. tasted too much like their pilsner, but at least this one is a lager and tasted mostly like a lager. these guys need to step it up.

Pours a dark gold...has a hoppy nose and is quite hoppy in taste. Some strange flavor as well, it was ok. I don’t know if it was worth the $5.

Eh. A lager, and you can’t fault it for being lagery. A placeholder, but if you’re in the mood for a normal lager beer, it’s worthy.
