   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 7/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 14/20
tfredvik (376) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 20, 2012
Light yellow clear body with a huge, white, fizzy head that disappears completely within seconds, leaving no lacing. Quite strong, interesting and unusual aroma, I get ripe fruits, fermented apples, sparkling white wine, and something that I can’t describe as anything else than Brie or Camembert! Finally some oaky funky stuff. This is so different and exciting! A light sweet taste with a light sour twist, but the overall mouthfeel is moderate dry. Medium body. The flavours are pretty close to a fruity champagne with additional apples, these special cheese notes, oak and well integrated alcohol. A very nice and different cider, and best of all, finally a bottle that is highly appreciated by both my wife and myself! We will definitely by this one again. And again.
[75 cl bottle, flaske nr. 03931, from Vinmonopolet Storo, Oslo]

ClubGonzo (1979) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 5, 2011
Bottle. Pours a clear, light yellow body with a bubbly, medium-lasting (for a cider) head. Lively carbonation. Nose is matured apples, wood and hints of butter and champagne yeast. Strange. Taste is sweet apples at first, then turning into bitter, near-sour champagne-like yeasty tones and finishing off with a swing into butterscotch territory. Dry, yeasty aftertaste notes with only vague hints of apple left. To me, this was all a bit weird and I think the apples kinda bought out to the whole champagne-thing, which is obviously what this cider sets out to perform. OK, but I really get the feeling that this could have been done much better.

Sigmund (3713) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - JUN 28, 2010
750 ml clear "champagne" bottle, made of Aroma apples, vintage 2008. Bottle No. 124, bought at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 11%. Golden colour, pours very fizzy with a huge white head that lasts longer than normal for a cider. Aroma of oxidised eating apples (which indeed the Aroma apple variety is), hints of sulphur. The flavour is more tart than I expected, especially in the finish. Oxidised apples again with hints of sulphur, medium sweetness.

OleR (3658) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 28, 2009
750 ml corked bottle, vintage 2006, bottle no. 2652. A thin white head, only present whilst pouring. Body is lightly carbonated with a shining, deep straw-yellow color and lots of tiny bubbles constantly rising from the bottom of the glass. Clean, light sweet, quite inviting aroma of apples from the AROMA apple variety. Flavor appears quite sweet at first, but is balanced by a fruity sourness that blends well in. Noticable alcohol, but not disturbing. Feels quite vinous in the mouth. Medium body strenght. Finishes acidulous fruity with a faint alcohol heath. Very likeable, top end Norwegian Cider.

Gr0ve (1877) - Oslo, NORWAY - FEB 15, 2009
750 ml bottle. Pale whiteish golden colour. Crystal clear. Sweetish apple aroma. Hints of apricoty. Clean fruity aromas. Quite nice aromas for a cider this strong. Spritzy carbonation, but the rich alcohol. Could have been even a little more rich.

larsga (4663) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 29, 2008
Small white coarseish head doesn’t last. Pale yellow body with fast carbonation. Sulphury wooden mealy apple aroma. Dryish-sweetish apple and alcohol taste with wooden notes. Thinnish body. Sharp mouthfeel, some heat. Dryish apple and sulphur aftertaste. Ok-ish, I guess. (0.75l bottle, wine monopoly, Oslo.)

Ungstrup (23960) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 18, 2007
Bottled. A light yellow cider with a fast collapsing white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of apples, as well as a light spicy touch of cinnamon. The flavor is sweet again with strong notes of apples, and light notes of cinnamon, leading to an acidic finish. The alcohol burns slightly in the mouth.

Papsoe (22985) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - AUG 4, 2007
(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of yngwie. Pours a clear, pale golden with a very bubbly, white head dissipating in no time. Tart apple aroma. Medium-bodied, extremely bubbly from the excessive carbonation. Lightly tart and sulphurous citrus notes. A very inharmonious cider. 270707

Bottle. [Courtesy of Papsoe, another great tasting session] Small fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Pale yellow color with a clear sparkling look. Aroma of apple, vinegar. Quit dry texture I must say. Medium bodied with a very fizzy carbonation to the point where it almost becomes too much. Moderated sweet and light acidic flavor. Fresh apple finish. 27-07-07
