4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Rastacouere (5921) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 12, 2010
Draught at the brewery beer garden. Clear, straight hazy golden lager whose malts deserved an accolade. It was the first time I used strawy to describe a Czech pils’ malts - a character I adore. Gently biscuity malt profile and sweeter than most. When the hops mix in, it becomes more floral, strawy, herbal even. Feels very pure and remarkably clean. Just a touch sulphury. Growing coating malt freshness seduces you more with every sip. The brewery prximity helps in that regard I guess. Soft bitterness, but with exquisite floral touches.

Draught at the brewery’s tap in Cesky Krumlov. Mild yeast aroma. Cloudy dark orange colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is mild and clean. Good mild yeast flavour. Good mouthfeel.

On tap at the brewery tavern : Pale golden to golden, a bit unclear, light fruity lemony nose over a light malty background, light to moderate sweet and bitter flavour, light bodied, mild citrousy finish with a light bitterness in the aftertaste. A clean and well crafted summer drink..........
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 motelpogo (5047) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - JUN 5, 2008
on tap at the brewery. quite a pale golden, reasonably murky, fat white head. probably a bit too heavy on the yeast - the aroma is all custard and sourdough, the texture is a bit gluggy and there is no discerniable bitterness. a big disappointment

Thing is, on a cold day in Cesky Krumlov with nothing going on... A plate of pork and potatoes and 4-5 mugs of the Dark - That’s the way to go. mmmmmmm After several weeks of Staropramen and Budvar this is especially enjoyable!!!

This is the unfiltered version of the 12° Eggenberg. It is only available on tap directly at the brewery. To my opinion served slightly too cold, but very tasty anyway. Looks great, medium sized head and slightly hazy. Quite hoppy and dry, only slightly malty. Dry finish.
