Bottle from Coppers in Newcastle. An extremely pale golden lager with a sweet malty and fruity flavour and a light ’plastic’ hoppy finish.

Tap. Pours clear and sparkling gold with a large, frothy white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is hay, straw and cereal malt, spicy hops and a clean lager character. Flavor is malt forward with medium hops and bitterness and a dry finish. Light body and warmth, moderate carbonation.

Easily the maddest looking beer on the pour I have ever seen. Furious fast streaming carbonation pushes up a light, pillowy plume to settle a good inch out the lip of the glass and held there by the chaos below. The body of beer a sparkling translucent yellow gold. Clean and bright, herbal and spicy noble hop nose with gritty, sundrenched toasted grains, very nice, polished. Unexpectedly soft, light and very delicate in the mouth. Spicy, peppery, grassy and herbal hops in back. Mildly earthy swallow, low bitterness, dry, crisp and clean. Nice balancing level of pale malt, straw and hay. Well made, so clean and seemless. A good, delicate pilsner. (33cL, BBE 12/11, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

I liked this. It’s got a solid bitter pilsner taste to it. It’s fairly crisp, dry and light with a tint of grass and hay. Very refreshing with a sharp dry finish.

Clear golden color with a medium white bubbly head. Aroma is 50/50 malt and hops with the most obvious thing being the grassy german hoppiness. When it warms a little the malt becomes more obvious. Flavor is bittersweet with a bitter aftertaste. The initial sweetness shows notes of cereals giving some space for the lemongrass touches in the end. Light to medium body, it’s not a "Hop King" as the name suggests being less bitter than the Czech Pilsner Urquell or the Frisian Jever Pils. Crisp and clean refreshing pils, only a little unexciting.

Gold, white head, crisp dry hay flavour. Something medicinal going on? Nice enough, but not so you want to take a case home.

Nice enough beer. Very pale and crystal clear. Always wary of beer in green bottles but no sign of being light-struck. An ok beer......just not that exciting. Many better German Pilsners out there.

33cl Bottle. Appearance is pale yellow color with medium, somewhat foamy head with decent lacing. Aroma is mostly sweet malts with slight metallic smells. Taste is also sweet malts, typical pale lager malts, some grains, weak grassy hop bitterness. Palate is light-bodied, thin texture, average carbonation, and a sweet finish.
