mikkopen (87), Oulu, Finland Apr 24, 2008 500 ml bottle. Dark reddish brown colour with a thin but firm head. Very sweet caramel aroma, lightly roasty. Flavour is sweet roasted malts, buttery, smooth. Dry, hoppy aftertaste. Not bad at all, although maybe a little too sweet for me.
thewolf (3392), Kolding, Denmark Jul 13, 2008 Tap @ Pivovar Eggenberg.
Pours deep mahogany with a nice, creamy, off-white head. Okay duration, light lacing. Aroma has some toffee and is lightly roasted. Meidum carbonation, okay mouthfeel. Flavour has a lot of black currant notes, slight butter and very lightly roasted. Quite sweet, but the berries make up for that. TEJA (27), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 10, 2008 Dark amber colour ( a bit to light for a Schwartzbier) with a long lasting foam. Spicy aroma togehter with burnt and caramell malt aroma. Much maltiness and a nice lasting biterness. Miksu (1175), Jyväskylä, Finland Jul 2, 2008 0.5 l bottle. Dark reddish brown color with thick creamy head, foams over. Sweet, caramelly and bready aroma with malty melanoidins. Sweet, bready, malty, sugary and honeyish flavor with medium bitterness. Bitter chocolate in the finish. Sweet sugary flavor deteriorates drinkability. Tranquillity (1027), Espoo, Finland Jun 20, 2008 Bottled. Aroma of mushroom, not much else. Quite pleasant. Dark mahogany body with a thick, small-bubbled beige head. Taste Sweet & Sour! Roasted and sweet, in a good way. TBone (4616), Pori, Finland Jun 5, 2008 Bottled (BB 11/2008)
Dark red ruby color, decent sized creamy beige head. Toasted syrupy aroma with notes of diacetyl and woody hops. Medium-bodied. Toasted, buttery flavor. A bit acidic and diacetylic. Also some odd sweetness, propably from saccarine. Finish has hoppy bitterness. In the aftertaste there is some bitterness. Quite basic and typical Czech dunkel. With 11 degree gravity just a bit too thin at the end.
