0.5l bottle bought in Cesky Krumlov. Small head, light brown, vanishes quickly.. Body almost black. Moderate aroma, malty, mostly. Taste is dominated by roasted malt and a bit of caramel. Plus some mild sourness/bitterness. Kind of remote relative of a dry stout. Moderately carbonated, rather silky. Liked it.

Gyenge, teljesen elüt az igazi prágai dunkles-től, mintha csak színezték volna.

Kita (971) - Koper, SLOVENIA - MAY 29, 2014
Bottle, 0.50l. Cloudy dark brown color with thin creamy tan-like head and nice lacing. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and herbal hops. Taste starts with moderate sweet caramel and toffee, follows by gently roasted malt, coffee and grainy sourness, while finish is pleasant bitter. Medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Very well balanced and tasty...

On tap after a long day’s rafting to Cesky Krumlov. Pours dark, clear Brown with a small cream head. Mild coffee, chocolate and charred wood. A bit overly sweet for my liking with a bit of a tang to the finish.

Eggenberg Cerne on tap at the brewery’s Restaurant Eggenberg in Cesky Krumlov in 2011 (from notes). Deep mahogany, very dark, with a large puffy tan head. Very inviting and rich aroma of dark malt;a hint of spices (from the hops?) Full, rich dark malt flavor with a great balance of malts and excellent intensity. Some spicy hops on the finish. Excellent carbonation and medium-full feel O - superb example of style. Certainly one of the best Czech cernes I’ve had.
