1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Snegurochka (157) - Tromsø, - JUL 5, 2011
500ml can, thanks to Sveinbjørn for sharing some of his beverage with me on his mothers birthday 23.Apr.2011. According to Sveinbjørn this was very tasty and worth spending the day looking forward to open. He also told me that drinking Malt Extrakt is a part of Icelandic Easter Tradition. Dark brown body, with a little fizz. Sweet malt aroma, hints of caramel and licorice. Obviously the taste was sweet to, and totally mirrored the aroma. It didn’t quite meet my expectations, but I think it was due to the already mentioned hype...
1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20 rosenbergh (3488) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 30, 2011
500 ml can. From Akureyri, Iceland. Thanks Jón.
Dark brown colour with small tan head.
Super sweet syrupy sugary aroma. Not a bit beery.
Flavour is quite disgusting to be honest. Extremely sweet, sugary, syrupy flavour. It’s like it’s not ready yet or like... extract. Quite awful. Couldn’t finish. I’m sorry. But it still looks good.
1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 mjs (3000) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 29, 2011
(Can, 0.5 l, courtesy of rosenbergh, 20111229) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was light brown and medium sized. Aroma was excessively sweet with at least treacle, molasses and plum. Palate was medium bodied and sticky with medium carbonation. Flavours were excessive sweetness, molasses and treacle. Aftertaste was unfortunately there and it was also sweet and sweet and sweet. Afwul.

Can in Reykjavik. Thick and dark. Sweet, malty, molasses flavour. This was too thick and sweet - I could not finish this. Gross.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Bxstard (3) - Hafnarfjörður, ICELAND - NOV 13, 2010 does not count
A healthy kids favorite, liquorice and caramel bit of vanilla, very sweet but not to a fault.
Much better from a bottle than from a can. Good chilled to room temperature and interesting if heated to about 50-60C.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 lassem (639) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 17, 2009
No alcohol - a leftover from when beers were banned on Island - Bottle 33 cl. Pours a sparkling deep brown with a dark tanned head. The nose is dominated of brown sugar (kandis), dark rye bread and cinnamon. The taste is very very sweet - like the sweetness found in traditional danish christmasbeers enjoyed to the traditional riceporridge - just sweeter. Its dominated of brown sugar and malts. Is rather uncomplex with a watery palate.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Dickinsonbeer (5076) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 6, 2009
Bottle shared by puzzl. Pours a deep brown slight haze. doughy rye and wheat bagel aroma with an overly sweet cloying malt extract character- almost stale though. Toasty and sweet malts, molasses, brown sugar, and a salty malt oxidation- corny and gritty as well with a slick finish.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 JoeMcPhee (6966) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 1, 2009
Aroma is husky and sweet. Rye malt, toast and a fairly sweet toastiness. Flavour is sweet as well, but with a nice rye flavour. Sweet and grainy with a fairly strong brown sugar character. Nice for what it is.
