The beer in the glass is dark and slightly hazy. The smell is sweet and roasted malty. Starts with lots of roasted malts, slightly sweet, with hints of caramell. The aftertaste is very malty sweet. The further course gets more mild and palatable, the sweet malts grow up, very much!

500 ml bottle. Pours rather brown then red (as its name suggests) and a bit hazy. Probably a little hint of redness. Nevertheless it looks quite good because of its big and frothy head. Smells spicy, floral/grass or even a bit roasty. tastes really spicy, a bit roasty too. medium bodied and average carbonization. at the end palatable bitterness but not so much taste of the hops. quite good.

Bottle. Red brown color with small white head. Aroma, red fruit, roasted malt, caramel. Taste, red fruit, toffee, hints of milk chocolate. Nice long bittersweet finish. Drinkable beer.

Aroma is somewhat sweet with strawberries, some roasted notes and hints of metal. Flavour has berries, some roasted, bready malt and hints of herbs. Decent.

(swing top bottle, courtesy of Koelschtrinker) Hazy, amber colour with a big and light-beige foamy head. Dusty, sweet and slightly toasted malty aroma, also slightly nutty and subtle fruity with a shy dash of hops. Light-bitter flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toasty malty taste with yeasty and herbal notes; sweet-bitter, toasty and slightly fruity finish with a very light hops-character. Decent unfiltered Dunkel (07.07.08).

Bügelverschlußflasche: Hazy, light amber coloured, stable lacy off-white head; sweetish-fruity and toasted-malty aroma with some shy hoppy influences; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied, quite soft MF; a light alcoholic trace in the sweet-fruity and caramelly finish. Not bad, but a bit too sweet........

50 cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. Pours cloudy dark orange with a small and slight off-white head. Aroma is dark roasted malt, vague metallic. Bitter, roasted malt and slight fruity. Bitter and dry into the far finish.

Bottle 50cl. w. swing top.
Light unclear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, keller, sweet malt, light nutty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, sour malt notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091003]

Bottled. Reddish brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is mild spices, berries, toasted notes along with some slight grassy and bready malty notes. Flavour is spicy, herbal, grassy and mild berryish notes along with some slight toasted notes. Quite different from standard dunkels.

Bottle 0,33 l from Maruhn - Darmstadt (D). Red garnet beer with nice off-white foam drawing to the glass, fine crackling. Malted aromas, roasted, raw meat, hay and fruity. The taste is sweet, moderate hop, slight acidic and sweetened-toffy and roasted. Finish bitter-sweet.
