Eichhofener Helles from Schlossbrauerei Eichhofen from the town of Eichenhofen. Color is golden but not as intense yellow-gold as others. Itís almost pale, has a large bright white head, too. Aroma is the same as above, very Pils malty with some bitter hops around it. The flavor is slightly sweet, bitter and a hint of lemons in the background all in one swallow. Up front is bitter-sweet, middle is maltier and bitter and a slight sourness, back is where the lemon aftertaste comes. The sweetness and lemon are strongest on the aftertaste, yet while it swirling in the mouth it stays bitter. Itís also a tad on the thinner side for a mouthfeel, but not drier. Iím not sure if I like this one as much. Youíd think all these complex flavors would add up to more, but itís feels more like their not all in sync. Overall, a really good beer, but itís both a tad too bitter and a tad too sweet. I can taste the lemony aftertaste strongly after I swallow, but sadly thatís the best part. Again, donít get me wrong. Itís a damn good beer! Just a little underwhelming after having drunk the Regensburg Spital Helles.

500 ml bottle from the brewery in Germany. Pours clear bronze with a little white head. Aroma has an unexpected but interesting spicy floral element that combines with the solid malty backbone. Taste is light sweet with flavors of hay, bread and honey, the floral note features little. A little hoppy bite in the finish. Nicely crisp and clean taste, medium body and soft carbonation. No surprises in the taste but very drinkable.

Bottle by 9.12. More of that weird herbal nose, gods, what are they doing to get that? Pale crayon yellow with a bright white head. Body is light but not watery, thereís more bitterness here than in their pils, and the house flavor disappears somewhat in the mouth, or at least doesnít annoy.

Bottle, from trade with Maria. A more or less clear one, golden in color and with a minimal sized off-white head. Fruity and grassy nose with a touch of pine cones. A touch of dms as well. The flavor is fruity and lightly malty, pale malts of course, with a faint bitterness towards the end. Medium body, semi-dry. Some metallic notes in the end. A decent and drinkable beer, nothing more. 120224
