Bottle from a REWE in Forchheim. Deep gold in colour, with a slight white head and moderate carbonation. Heavy cereal malts, some stone fruits and a gently bitter finish. Ok, but a bit heavy going.

(Rating #3824)

My Bottom Line :
Discreet herbal hops accompany fruity angles into a smooth peppery finish in this nicely drinkable festbier.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-Foam tufts cling to the top of the beer all the way down the krug. Quite appealing.
-This is not as sweet as Greif’s and Wolfshöher’s Annafestbiers, which is nice.
-Again, malt flavors are very polished, which seemed to be common at the Annafest.
-The big, soft bubbles and rather lean body (for an Annafestbier) make drinkability quite high.

On tap at Annafest.

Draught at Annafest09. Good fruity and slightly sweet flavour. Has a little aromatic hoppiness that goes well with the fruit note. Low to medium bitterness. Big rocky off-white head.

Ceramic mug. Amber-brown. Relatively thin head for a frankenbier. Herbal, fruity hop with some caramel malts. Light toast and background woodiness. Toasty, hoppy, some breadcrusty and wood.

Draft @ Annafest. Gold with sudsy foam head. Aroma is bright and fresh with juicy, brightly metallic Franken-hops. Juicy palate. Fresh floral flavors are grassy and good. Hoppy yum yum.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2008 Draught at Annafest, Forchheim (as Eichhorn Annafestbier.) Amber colour, just some head. Caramelly nose with tobacco and grass. Medium sweet with rounded mouthfeel. Drier, more hoppy/grassy finish with quite some bitterness. Well made.

Draught @ Brewery in Forchheim. Clear medium amber color with a avetage, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, hay, straw, butter. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (070407)

From tap at the wonderfully hidden Blümleinskeller at the Annafest. Aromatic hop aroma. Couldnt see much of the colour due to the Stein and the amazing super stable head. Full malt body and noble hops, light metallic clayish notes - it tastes like the beer has absorbed a bit of the rock from the old Keller. Chewy full body. Fruity aftertaste (pears, clementines). Franconia Rocks!
