COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oak Aged Lager.
Named from the Flemish word for Oak, Eiken Artois is a deliciously refreshing yet full flavoured oak aged lager brewed in Belgium to 4.6% ABV. Brewed with carefully selected aroma hops, this unique beer is then oak aged to create a fruity, hoppy lager with subtle floral notes and hints of vanilla.

Bottle. Never thought i would rate an InBev product so highly but this is quite pleasant. Clear and yellow with some hops and a malty finish. Well balanced. Nothing outstanding but far better than I expected.

Tap at The Dovetail in London. Light orange amber color with a white head. Grassy aroma. Near medium body with mild carbonation. Seems to thin a bit as carbonation leaves. Flavor is lightly fruity and the wood is very subtle. A lager that could pass for an English ale.

Draught in the beer cafe. Aroma is minimal, malty based though. Taste is similar though sweeter and i suspect caramel has been aded for colour aswell as flavour, however easy going non offensive and clean.

4.6% gold colour with no head, oak aroma and slight oak/caramel taste, not bad.

Bottle. Bronze beer with a semi strong head. The aroma is lightly yeasty and dry, and the flavour is plainly yeasty and dry. Overall an average lager.

Draught, The Racehorse, Northampton. A hazy, pale brown coloured beer with a white head. The aroma and taste has sour hints presumably from the oak. Some fruit and actually a fair amount of character. Needs more body but the flavour does shows itself.

Free sample in Tescos and all i want of this ... orange ... light sweet lager nose ... basic lageryness i dont get any wood at all nor any complexity.

33cl bottle. Amber with a thin white head, rapidly disappearing to leave a flat liveless beer; some vanilla and oak on the aroma, but also sweet cereal; slightly malty flavour with a damp cardboard finish; drinkable, but nothing more.

sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - AUG 27, 2008
Draught - Bedford’s Bar, Norwich. A pale brown colour with a small whitish head that lasted about as long as my interest for this beer did. Fairly basic nose characteristics; a sweet, maybe slightly oaky maltiness. Basic again are the flavours. Run of the mill lager qualities with a touch of sweetness and no real bitterness. Light in body with a dryish finish.

Bottle, courtesy of an InBev sales rep. Gold, thin shortlived white head and gentle condition. Brief, slightly peaty nose, quite dry and vaguely oily in the mouth with a whisper of woodiness, short vanilla note in the finish. Hardly worth the effort.
