COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the US, this beer has been given the trendier "Schwarzbier" label.

A bottom-fermented specialty with a mild taste, brewed with aromatic barley malt and mild aroma hops

Shaker pint draft at the Flying Saucer in Kansas City, Missouri. Pour is amber brown with not too much of an off white head. This is a thin looking beer. Not much aroma, roasted malt, smoke elements and some sweaty socks. Taste is the roasted smoked malt and caramel sweetness. The palate is thin, watery and drinkable.

Bottle reads Einbecker Schwarzbier. Pours an extremely dark, cola looking, black with creamy tan head surrounding the edges of the glass. Lives up to the style, the carbonation is very crisp. Smooth enough to make it an excellent session brew. Flavor is yesterdays coffee, black cherries, cola, light herbs and cigarettes. That might not sound enjoyable but I can see this beer having its moments. Pretty good Schwartz

Dark brown/black with a small fairly rapidly disappearing head. Nose of caramel malt and little else. Taste was mild with subtle notes of caramel, coffee, and cola. The mouthfeel was watery and almost like flat cola. Short coffee-like finish.

Pours reddish brown and raises a loose, large-bubbled head that collapses imeediately. The end result is nor foam, no lace. Uninspiring nose of treacle and metal, tinged with lemon and herbal hop... also suggestions of toffee, mold, decaf coffee, and woodsmoke. I was actually startled by how bland, flat and anemic the beer tastes- mere whispers of caramel and wood- even relative to the scanty aroma. The light palate has some distsant chewiness, and is only faintly carbonated. They should stick to dunkel on the label... in no universe could this ever be considered schwarzbier. Hugely disappointing. What a sad, sad beer.

sampled at state line tasting on 9-11. Pours a dark brown with a light tan head. Light aroma of malts, grass, light caramel, and a note of nuttiness. Faint malty roasted flavor with raisins, nuts, and a touch of toffee with a light bitterness and a dry finish

Pours a hazy dark red with a small off-white froth. Sweet lightly toasted aroma, some funky noble hops. Flavor is upfront metallic with some skunk, lightly toasted malt. Medium/light body, very crisp and light for a dunkel.

Tap at The Yardhouse. Brown pour wtih a small head. Aroma is very light and mostly malt driven. Some light nuts also are noticeable. Flavor is pretty damn boring. Light nuttiness and malts with nothing to stand out and get excited about.

(Bottle, as Einbecker Schwarzbier). Mild grassy malt aroma. Deep reddish brown with light tan head. Flavor is very mild and not terribly interesting, but certainly drinkable. Some malt and light sweetness, vague roasty notes.
