2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle here in the US, labelled as "Schwarzbier". Pours with little head. Quite dark, looks jet black unless I hold it up to the light, and then looks a dark reddish-brown. Aroma is strong, suggests molasses, caramel, dried fruit, overripe fruit, and a hint of vinegar. Smells surprisingly boozy, for the low alcohol content. Thick body, rich, heavy. Flavor a mix of sweet, sour, bitter, and savory flavors. Carbonation very slight, imparting only a hint of prickly sensation. I prefer lighter-bodied Dunkels. For how low the ABV was on this one, it was awful boozy and heavy, qualities I don’t like. I do like the complexity of this beer’s aroma, though. If you like imperial stouts, and you want something a little less alcoholic, this might be a good choice; this beer seemed pretty much like an imperial stout in flavor, aroma, and body.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark lager with thick, creamy foam. Feels like silk on the tongue until a bitter brussel sprouts/ruccola-like aftertaste kicks in. The main taste is creamy, soft and sweet, in the middle between pilseners and red ales.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
It pours a very dark brown with reddish hues shining through.
Roasted malt in the smell along with a distinct hoppy bitterness.
Roasted malt bitterness up front with a biscuit malt and grain kick backing that up.
Light bodied with medium carbonation.
A very good Schwarzbier.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from backlog notes 07. Pours brown in color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel, doughy malt, grass, perhaps a hint of fruit character, the nose was weaker, the flavor pretty bland.

Flaska. Mörkbrun öl med givmilt smutsvitt skum. I både doft och smak hittas rostad malt, rågbröd, havre och röda bär. Medel mot liten kropp. Vattnig munkänsla.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Nothing to write home about here. Starts off bitter caramel, but flavor actually improves as it warms slightly. Maybe it’s just an acquired taste, but maybe it’s not too good. Guess I have five more tries to figure that out.
