This beer is great. MaiBock may be the best style of beer in the world. A easy drinking beer with great body. The Germans know how to make a beer. This beer will catch up on you. This beer is Zur Gutte!!!

the most delicate german aroma that i’ve found. gritty tasting, hihg carbonation. not really my style but I enjoy it.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 Zach Diesel (906) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 18, 2002
loses it at the end but blows me away at the start. A more carbonated, less full bodied Dead Guy.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 RAUCHFEST (122) - PROSPECT PARK, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 15, 2002
great munich malt flavors the right amount of hops drink a six and you will find out why they call them green monsters. this is a beer that does not travel well so look for the newer dates on the bottle
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Admiral (524) - Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 6, 2002
A tiny amount of skunk, with some background hop bitterness and caramel-like malt. Not bad, but I’d really like to try one that wasn’t skunked at all.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 rich42 (128) - USA - JUL 5, 2002
the flavors are simple - lightly roasted malt, medium bodied, well hopped. that said - this is perhaps my favorite mai-bock. everything is perfectly balanced. very similar to the einbecker ur-bock - just a little lighter. mmmm bock....

i looked up ’decoction’--a brewing process some ace testers have alluded to in connection with this one, and find it no more illuminating in terms of flavor (to me) than what color socks the brewer was wearing (dark grey, moderate talcum powder). and more dissent among tasters on this page than what is usual. the freshness date is unmarked, but this bright fawn colored brew poured with a modest head. a scent for sore noses, it offers up an amiable mixed bouquet of flowery hops and caramel straight from a whitman sampler; and no apparent skunks in the vecinity. the palatte was smooth, flavor dryish, malty alcohol effect present but not boorish, and a surprising twang in the finish. a complicated rate: at 11 oz., too small for me to be decisive. what box do i check to abstain? no abstain box?! i’ll have to do the best i can... it seemed quite good, but what do i know?
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Volgon (2716) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - JUN 7, 2002
Best before 03.05.00 drank on 04.19.02, 11.2 OZ bottle: For a beer that is 2 years past its drink by date and in a green bottle, it is really good. I’ll try this one fresh some time. Hazy copper color, (very) slight skunk nose with Euro-hops, smooth mouthfeel and finishes dry.

Bronze-coloured, big bitterness, some coriander-flavour and a warming alcohol-sweetness. Not bad.
