Skinnyviking (2394), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 27, 2008 Bottle. High creamy and lasting white head. Clear and beautiful golden cobber body. Hoppy grassy spicy aroma. Mild and yet spicy hoppy flavor with a nice dryness that stays for a long time in the aftertaste. Carbonation pleasantly low.
Capa (665), Yokosuka, Japan Jul 11, 2008 Clear yellow with a bit of amber thrown in holding up a small, white head. A little malt, a little earth, and a little skunky. I’ve gotta stop buying green bottled beers in Japan, they never make it in good shape. Flavor is some toasty malts, grass, sticky sweetness, and light hop bitterness. Decent. Rciesla (712), Brick City, New Jersey, USA Jul 9, 2008 Botte. Hazy yellow pour with a rocky head. Diacetyl nose, floral earthy grassy hops. Nice malty backbone and a note of etoh. GAManiac (217), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 3, 2008 Draft at the Brick Store. Pours a clear golden with hints of amber with a one-finger white head that dissipated to a ring fairly quickly leaving no lacing. Smell is mainly light sweet malts and grains, mainly wheat. The taste is a little better than the smell with sweet malts still playing the major role, but with a more interesting things going on behind it with some corn and some faint hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is light to medium and refreshing with good carbonation. This is definitely a drinkable brew if not the most complex of maibocks I’ve tasted. durhambeer (323), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jun 30, 2008 Bottle. Amber/light brown pour with medium white head. Burnt sugar, honey, loads of German malt, and even a little fresh cinnamon on the nose. Similar on the tongue with a bit more breadiness. I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. It’s not just one-note maltiness. Dig it. FishManLA (150), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA Jun 28, 2008 Clear amber colored with a white head that dissipates at a medium rate. Fairly nice lacing. Nose of yeast with caramel and grass notes. Taste has notes of malt, fruit (peach or pear), caramel, biscuits and a slight astringency. Finish is hoppy and fairly long lasting. This would make a good spring/summer barbecue or picnic brew.
