3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The first things I noticed about this beer were its exceptional clarity and bronze color. As I raised the glass to take the first sip, the overwhelmingly malty aroma struck me. This beer has good mouthfeel and roasted malt taste. I did not notice any prominent hoppiness in the aroma or finish. Perhaps it was overpowered by the malt (or my dinner)? Drank it after a hefe and during a meal of brauenwurst & kraut, so I might need to try it again on its own.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
In a green bottle. SKUNKED, of course. aroma is bitter, herbal, skunky, musty, and some toasted bread.
pours golden with lots of suspended sediment and no head.
flavor is sharply bitter skunked hops on top of an interesting herbal candy throat lozenge sweetness. also some vanilla and light toast come into play.
finishes surprisingly dry given the strong candy sweetness. the finish is really the only thing keeping this beer drinkable as the flavor is so much like candy or cough drops.
overall, a beer with interesting elements that clash but is ultimately saved by a dry finish which makes this not unpleasant. this beer was also probably spoiled by light and probably exhibited more cough drop characteristics due to mistreatment in transport.

Bottle was a gift from Humulus et Fermentum, Heisdorf. Thank you! Pours clear copper brown with huge head. Nose is grainy and floral, taste is caramel sweetness nicely balanced by hoppy bitterness. Sweet finish, bitter aftertaste. Full mouthfeel, low carbonation. Nice, but nothing special, a bit bland.

Light sweet grain aroma. Body is a clear mild copper with a modest one finger thick head. Has a mild bitter bite. Sweet caramel on the back end of the palate. Feels light but is bold and feels warm going down.
