Rather sturdy and richly flavored malty brew. A little bit of alcohol can be noticed in the finish. No detectable hops. Not bad.

330 ml bottle at the Moerlein Lager House. Pours a mostly clear orange with a small, creamy off-white head. Some lace and spots. Aroma of caramel, banana, leaves, grass, straw, and wet cardboard. Flavor of caramel, banana, leaves, mild spice, clove, straw, grass, earth, and seasoned cracker. Light-medium body, moderate carbonation, and a malty, earthy mouthfeel. Very German. Maybe a little old, too.

(Einbecker Ur-Bock Dunkel) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a snifter. ABV 6.5% Light amber in colour, very clear body. Good sized head, off white in colour, quite good retention. Medium lacing left behind. Aroma of grass, caramel, malts. Some red fruit notes. Taste is better, still lots of malts and sugars, quite sweet taste but there is a nice bitterness on the aftertaste. Grass, floral notes too. Although just 6.5%, it’s quite boozy. Medium thin body, good carbonation, mildly dry palate. Nothing special but if you manage not to pay attention to its booziness, drinks okay.

Heldere koperen kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt fruitig, honing, herfstfruit. Smaakt zoetig, kruiden, plakkerig. Iets mout en citrus. Zoete afdronk.

Copper pour with a tight slightly off white head and lace. Aroma is sweet almost honey like and slight fruity esters. Flavor is sweet toffee like start with a floral like short lived bitter finish. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Solid overall beer

Gostoso aroma de malte. Intenso a distância. De perto, o torrado aparece e o caramelo também, porém em menor grau. Um pouco de café também. Colarinho bem formado, bege. Líquido avermelhado e translúcido. Lembra a madeira vermelha envernizada. Muito bonito. Alcool marcado. O caramelo aparece logo em seguida. Bom corpo. Bastante densa. Carbonatação na medida. Retrogosto com bom amargor. Me agradou bastante. Pena que a garrafa é pequena... Acredito que é uma ótima representante do estilo.

It pours amber in color with a healthy light tan head. There is not much in the way of lacing. There are strong malt aromas that are of caramel, nuts, roasted, and biscuit with grassy notes on the side. It has a healthy taste of nuts, roasted, and caramel malts with touches of honey in the flavor as well. It does have a rather astringent bite on the palate.

The archetypical bottom-fermented German dark Bock, from Einbeck itself, where the style is said to originate centuries ago. Yellowish white, creamy, bit irregular but dense, albeit not too stable head; colour a pure and warm copper, clear. Malty aroma, Pilsener malts but some caramel and nutty malts as well, biscuit, grassy hops, brandy, honey, orange peel and a smoky, bit tobacco-like accent. Sweetish caramelly and nutty malts in the mouth, smooth and delightful, something honeyish too, quickly shifting into a peppery, spicy hop bitterness paired with some warming, brandy-like alcohol, ending dry and bitter with an ever so slight astringency. Very interesting and important lager, a delight having something like this on a chilly autumn day.
