BOTTLE 33CL from Erzengel. Thanks, Gabriel! Look: clear copper with a light beige head. Aroma: strong light kilned malts and grains, some toffee. A trace of hops maybe? Taste: light caramel sweetness balanced by quite some bitterness. Light bitter and long finish.

A simple, clean and very drinkable bock.

Clear copper color, good frothy off-white head, dissipates rather quickly; roasted malt nose, caramel, bread, dark fruit, syrup, herbs; starts medium sweet followed by moderate bitterness; medium body, creamy and toasted mouthfeel; mild bittersweet finish, with spicy and fruity notes.

My first new beer of the new year: A not so dark dunkler bock from the hometown of Einbeck that gave bock beer its name. Soft caramel malt aroma is average for the style, although I was surprised at the relatively light color of this beer, a rather translucent amber instead of the dark brown I would have expected. Taste is flavorful and balanced, featuring sweet maltiness with some earthy notes and mild dark fruits, but clean dark malt tasting for the most part. Maybe a touch of cocoa in the finish. Very enjoyable and authentic, and not too heavy. A classic bock. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
