3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Heller bock with a nice sting. Aroma is a little light, but taste come through with a nice bite. Decent head fades fast, and taste is very malty, right for the style.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
33cl bottle BB 03/2014. So this is the eponymous Bock from Einbeck, the Einbecker that became bastardised Bock, and this the Ur-Bock. High expectations, even for the Hell... Pours an Export unctuous yellow, less than appealing. Nose is of pregnant, soggy pale malts and ethanol fumes (at 6,5%...)...all taste is obliterated by badly-hidden ABVs, rough malts and no hop profile to speak of. Like a macro imperial Pilsner, or one of those amped-up Faxe cans in ferry duty free, the waves of the Baltic Sea helping along the body reactions that the beer has set in motion...

Sitting in an Einbecker pub and drinking this from the tap I was happy. Rich malty aroma, full body with oily texture.Very soft-coming despite the high alcohol rate. How would it taste any where else?

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Looks like every other boring yellow lager, but has a lovely aroma of dry grass, biscuity malt and yes, alcohol. Rich bodied with dry peppery hops balancing dry-sweet golden fruit, and a bitter-malty finish. Excellent.
