3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled, tnx Ulf!! Clear dark red-amber amber color with a huge head, nice lacing. Caramel nose. Aroma is malts, sweet caramel, brown cane sugar. Flavor is sweet and finishes with a long lasting heavy bitter. Body is proper not that light, even a bit oil-like, alcohol is perfectly hidden, carbonation matches the dopplebock style. EXCELLENT!

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a dark-brown body with large foamy off-white head. Aroma is predominantly malty. Taste is very sweet, very malty and slightly roasty. A hint of walnuts. Syrupy mouthfeel. Rather pronounced alcohol taste. It’s true to style but the unbalanced sweetness is a bit much for me. I much prefer the perfectly balanced Einbecker Ur-Bock Dunkel.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle 330ml. Pours a copper-red color with a small off-white head that disappears quickly. Smells slightly sweetish with hints caramel and malty. Tastes malty too, some nuts, a little pine and a distinct taste of alcohol in the finish. Strong like a typical bock, but overall a bit too strong to really enjoy it. Definitely a good winter beer, so why the %§@$ am I drinking this in August?

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Norøl’s Bokkølfestival. A clear, copper-colored beer topped by a white head. Sweetish caramel malts, some hints of roasted malts and dms on the nose. The flavor too is on the malty side, sweet and warming, but there’s also a nice addition of hops in this one. Full body. Warming, sweet malty finish with sufficient bitterness to cope with the sugars. A nice doppelbock I’d happily drink more of in the colder months. 100313

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice grainy aroma that has some cardboard, strawberries, and ethanol. Clear, dark red-amber with a tawny, thin cover. Potent grain and bread crust flavour with plenty of nuts and obvious ethanol. Sweet but in good balance with a sherry-like, nutty bitterness. Also a slight tartness contrapuntal to the ethanolic character. Medium body, moderate carbonation, finish is a tangy, butter, nuttiness on the tongue.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Church Key DC: Pours a transparent deep copper with a stringy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of toasty sweet caramel and some grassy noble hop notes with a hint of light fruity esters and clove spice. Starts with pretty good fullness and sweet toasty dark caramel notes with some raisins and clove flavor before a touch of metallic character and a more bitter finish. An ok doppelbock, but could use more balance.
