33cl short green bottle pours a nice crystal clear deep ruby red amber with 20 second off white head. The aroma is mild and offers up graham cracker, Christmas fruit cake and a soft faint layer of chemical booze. The taste has a mild malt roastiness to start and then moves into prune and raisin fruity ester as well as thin ribbons of caramel like malts. It ends with a slight drying sensation from the modest booze and some roasted malt astringency that helps even out the sweetness.

Malzig-süßer Geruch mit rosinigen Andeutungen. Antrunk zunächst hopfenbitter. Danach malziger und süßer werdend. Im Ausklang malzsüß mit moderater Hopfenbitteren. Leicht alkoholisch. Ordentlich - gut. Test vom 31.12.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche

10/10/10/10/12/10

draft at JK O’Donnell’s - Pours dark amber with minimal head. It has a rich caramel malt aroma. The flavor is very sweet caramel malt and a little dark fruit. It’s medium to full bodied, lightly carbonated, and altogether quite pleasant to drink though there are some better doppelbocks out there.

courtesy of oh6gdx - slightly hazy ruby-brown colour and with a poor head retention; robust malty aroma with notes of caramel and cookies; gently spicy; subtle carbonation and a solid malt backbone, some sweetness and with a quite dry finish with more lingering notes of caramel and a gentle warming alcohol touch

Bottle sample at a tasting. Best before 6/29/10. Thanks Oren. Hazy deep amber. Deep aroma of malt, caramel, a bit of fruitiness and some dark bread. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, a bit of chocolate, some roasty notes and a slightly drier and slightly fruity finish. Medium-bodied.

330ml bottle (Trade with Quack-Duck)
7 massive pure malt aroma, so full and dense like snorting malto.
4 Deep copper, not much head at all.
7 Lovely rich malty body, plenty of walnut and walnut papers, sweet, but acceptably so. Roast deep, a touch toasty, and definitely marmitey.
4 Smooth palate, pleasant crispness through carbonation and nicely a noble hop bitter bite too. Those hops are very important in the finish. Initially the marmitey malts rule, but they soften to a simple burnt roast, and then to dry nut-papers, and finally to bitter hops.
14 Not shining in any particular way, but there’s an all-over positive feeling about it. Finishing with such a bite after the super-dense maltiness is just what you want.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty dark fruit and caramel aroma. Sweetish malty dark fruit flavor with hints of caramel and some bitter hints. Has a sweetish malty fruity darak fruit finish.
