Strong dried fruit aroma, with some coffee/dark chocolate bitterness in the flavor. Dark nut brown with thick foamy head. Not bad, but smoother dopplebocks are available, like Paulaner Salvator.

330ml bottle. Clear dark copper colour with small, frothy, minimally lacing, off-white head. Caramel malty and slightly fruity aroma, a nuttily touch. Taste is caramel malty with a nuttily touch, bitter hoppy overtones, bitter hoppy finish. A bit watery, prickling carbonation.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Pours in most beautiful deepest red. Aroma of caramel, alcohol, some sweets and nuts. For that high abv a very, very drinkable beer.

Bottle shared with MichaelBruch. Taste of rich, thick caramel and hints of full-ripe grains. Little bit sour, but only a slight hint. Nice and very special beer, what I really like. Bought in 330 ml swing-top bottle for 80 Euro-Cents.

Test vom 18.5.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,7,6,6,12,6 - 6,75

500mL Bottle. Thanks Sean! Any day is a good day for a pilsner-malt-based beer, I say and today is no exception, this beer fitting the bill nicely. Caramels plunge the depth of grassy barley fields and warm summer sun. A beer may be made for winter, but it’s born in the sunny, hot days. I like the toffee and brown sugar play here, it’s satiny, refined, and cleansing. Bits of cherry bubble through. A very nice example from the old world.

Bottle. Light copper body, medium creamy off-white head. Nose is strong caramel tones with hints of burnt sugar and deep malty tones. Taste is deep malts, burnt sugar, caramel and hints of licorice and red berries. Full body, mild carbonation. A classic doppelbock of the rather mild variety.

Bottle. Amber pour, mostly clear. Light tan head. Aroma is musty caramel malt and grain. Moderate to full palate - has some heft. Taste is a very nicely balanced sweet caramel, a touch of fruit, and some grain. Decent.

Bottle to tulip. Sweet caramel nose. Very sweet. Lots of malty goodness. A bit grainy. Caramel amber pour with a moderate beige head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Texture is very slightly on the slick side. A nice long sweet finish
