COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American and Bavarian craft come together with the finest Icelandic water to create the Viking version of the Pale Ale, where robust hoppiness meets smooth malty undertones. Cascade hops give it the American character, while Northern Brewer hops add just enough bitterness to make this Ale refreshingly Icelandic.

Flaska.

Mycket snygg etikett. Från Akureyi.

Small offwhite head. Clear amber body with carbonation. Metallic aroma with floral notes. Dryish fruity spicy taste with floral notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry wooden floral fruity aftertaste with spicy notes. It’s ok, but very mild. More like a weak pale ale than an IPA. (0.33l bottle, at 73, Reykjavik.)

Bottle from Stirchley wines via SarkyNorthener; copper pour with a thin off white head, malt aroma, taste is very malt dominated with sweet caramel, biscuits and only a hint of bitterness.

(33 cl bottle from Bradley’s Off-License, Cork; BBD: February 19th 2015) Pours a clear amber with rich, tan head. Aroma is mostly malted barley grains with not much of a cascade profile. Perhaps there are some hints of citrus fruits. Watery texture, medium to light body, medium carbonation and a relatively well balanced finish, which has enough bitterness and is not too sweet. Decent.

Bottle originally from Ocado, consumed at home. Copper, a bit hazy with a decent white head. Light aroma, slightly floral, with hints of apricot, citrus and metal. Taste is bittersweet, light and hoppy, however there is a lingering malt finish. It would score higher but there is an off putting metallic flavour. An enjoyable pale ale, above average but can’t compete with the great APAs.

Ok example of an APA. I thought it lacked a strong roasted/toasted malt. Some of course, some bread too, more like a lager. It was hoppy and definitely cascade, but muted like this bottle wasn’t fresh. The finish was bleh.

Brewed in the North of Iceland, from pure water not far from the Arctic Circle, this was a wonderful full flavoured Pale Ale. Not much of a looker it had a wonderful crisp, refreshing mouth feel with a wonderful body. The flavour was perfectly balanced with just a light bitterness from Cascade Hops and a great savoury play on the tongue from the smooth malt. I could easily enjoy this as a go to beer every time.
