American and Bavarian craft come together with the finest Icelandic water to create the Viking version of the Pale Ale, where robust hoppiness meets smooth malty undertones. Cascade hops give it the American character, while Northern Brewer hops add just enough bitterness to make this Ale refreshingly Icelandic.

Flaska.

Bottle at home from Ocado. Clear bright orange / light amber coloured pour with a lasting frothy off white head. Aroma is light herbal, mineral, light caramel malts, little soapy in the finish. Flavour is composed of tangy herbal, earthy hop, little orange, light metalic note in the finish. Palate is medium light, moderate to high carbonation. Malt is light biscuity with a little caramel. Ok.

Very ordinary pale ale. Watery, uninteresting and not very fragrantly. Not good.

Pretty boring brew that’s not bad but a little light on the hops for the style, or a little old.

Not Bad, lacks aroma, appearance is nothing too special either. Honey and Wheaty notes, Bitterness from the Cascade Hops. Biscuit Undertones. Bought from Stirchley Wines.

Bottle at Our Black Heart, Camden on 23 Jun 2012. Poured a lightly hazy copper, with a dense white head. Aroma of peppery hop, toasted malt and herbs. Biscuity malt flavours, with pine-like hop bitterness and caramel. Finish was hop resin, toffee and grain.

The Sampler, Brooklyn bottle ($3.50): Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is light pine, bunch of malts, some citrus. Taste is slightly bitter. Kind of malty. Not very complex, interesting, or good. Meh.

You get a nice orange flavor on the taste, with the malts hanging on the palate afterwards. Not a lot of complexity to this beer, really straight forward.

Amber colour, small white head. Not much aroma. Has the orange peel marmalade flavour of a barley wine or DIPA, but not really rounded off with a bitter finish. OK.
