COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
American and Bavarian craft come together with the finest Icelandic water to create the Viking version of the Pale Ale, where robust hoppiness meets smooth malty undertones. Cascade hops give it the American character, while Northern Brewer hops add just enough bitterness to make this Ale refreshingly Icelandic.

Bottled. Pours a clear, pale amber colour with a small off-white head that doesn’t last. Hops and pine dominate both on the nose and in the mouth, while the flavours are very dry, yet very well balanced and clean. A very good American-style IPA.

Bottle from Myvatn natural baths, Iceland. Pours a true clear amberWith an of white head which is moderately laying and leaves some blobs of lacing. Aroma is maltiness, subtle spice, soap and perhaps some caramel. Not really any hops. Taste is quite bland which is a little disappointing. Malty sweetness with a fairly mild bitterness. Moderate carbonation and a weak to moderate body.

On Tap, Stoffan Reykjavik. Hazy pour, light yellow appearance. Wheaty, a whole lotta citrus and a bit grassy. A delicious beer and one which warmed the cockles in an otherwise cold Reykjavik.

Bottle from Appellation Wines, Edinburgh [170513]
Amber, clear, white frothy head
Aroma of cereal malts, light sweet malts, not much else
Taste of pale sweet malts, some spicy hop, dab of soft cereal, hints of lemon, getting some yeast ester notes(?), fresh and crisp
Palate - Medium carb and body, light bitter palate. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - It’s a rather simple beer, very ordinary nose, taste is simple and refreshing. It’s an easy drinking beer - not hoppy enough to be an APA, but overall I found it - just as a beer - pleasant to drink

Exceptionally smooth, clean and drinkable pale / amber ale. Balanced well towards the malty side, with just a hint of cascade behind a firm neutral bitterness. Simple and delicious.

The head is ok, the body red. It smells sweet, a bit hoppy. The taste is a bit hoppy, watery, mild, a bit bitter. Boring Pale Ale. 11/8/8/8/11/8

330 ml bottle from Wasana’s in Germany. Pours a nice amber color. Aroma is caramel, with hops. Some metallic notes, decent fizz in the palate and a sharp finish. Inoffensive, drinkable and this style better than and IPA.

Clear amber pour with thin off-white head. Nose is toasted malts and faint hops. Light body, faint resiny hops, grainy, malty Dry slightly oily finish. Not terrible but not that great either.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Nose is subtle but with a burnt sweet maltiness, not many hops. taste is dark malt sweetness (again almost burnt) with an distinct british bitterness overpowering the cascade. Body is light to medium and the finish is bitter hops and a bit unbalanced.

ekoerper (548) - Iowa, USA - APR 22, 2013
Aroma: some pale malts and oxidation, not much in the way of hops, not sure if this is a transport/storage issue or just inherent to the beer. Appearance: copper pour, white head with below average retention, leaves some patchy lacing. Taste: bready malts and caramel, some toast, a bit of balancing bitterness but almost no hop presence. Palate: medium body and carbonation. Overall: Not a lot going on, perhaps travel hasn’t treated this one well. Would like to try again fresh.

Amber pour with a white head. Sweet caramel and bready aroma. No real hop character. Pickles, grass, pear, cardboard, metal, and water. Blech. The flavor is no better. Lightly salty, sweet caramel and bread. Some cardboard, grass, pear, water, and a bit of metal. Not good.
