With clear notes of espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of authentic Icelandic coffee, this Porter is dark and rich, offering a medium body that is robust, yet smooth on the palate and easy to drink. There’s no need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Slowly diminishing tan-coloured head to deep ebony, red tinted, coloured body. Dark malty smell, discreet smoked. Fine blended taste of mid-sweet chocolate, salty liquorice, ash and a little smoke. Malt bitterness to the finish. Smooth oily palate. Clean in the mouth. Drinks well (at home, Tromsų 06.12.2014).

Bottle at Our Black Heart, Camden on 23 Jun 2012. Poured black, with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, treacle and light coffee. Medium to full mouthfeel, with quite a lot of carbonation. Burnt malt in the flavour, with dark chocolate and rye bread. Finish was quite light, some residual caramel, toast and ash.

330ml bottle from Stanmore and Boss, Sheffield - deep black body, thin beige head, good looking beer. Nose is harsh espresso, coffee bean, black chocolate and roasted nuts. Taste has a black coffee feel, very rich and burnt, but has a fantastic clean and velvety chocolatey mouthfeel. The only downside is it follows an epic beerography earlier in the night. I might try this again in the future and re-rate with a clear head.

Light beige modest head, disappears, black-brown body. Aroma; cocoa, caramel malts, butter, gummy hops, dry dusty prunes, notes of leather. Taste; milky chocolate, caramel, cocoa powder juice, small prune notes, moves towards more cocoa in finish on a backbone of dry hops. Nice in the mouth, normal to soft carbonation, and alright body. Overall a clean and easy porter. [33cl brown btl, abv6% 14.5°, BB12JUN16, 5€50c, B@Vinmonopolet Langnes Tromsö]

Nice dark color out of the bottle. Sweet aroma on the nose. Some fruity flavor with hints of chocolate and coffee. Not much sweetness, more robust malt flavors. Finishes smoothly on the palate, lingers for a little bit.

0.33 bottle. Black with a small, brownish head. Sweet, malty aroma of toast, hot bread, caramel, smoke-cured meat, wood, and a touch of salt. Taste is also malty although not as strong; again hints of well-cured, tender meat and salt. Medium body, smooth texture, and flat carbonation. Finish is a better version of the taste itself. Overall the brew is pretty good, not intrusive but nicely balanced and delicate for its style. Points for originality.
