With clear notes of espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of authentic Icelandic coffee, this Porter is dark and rich, offering a medium body that is robust, yet smooth on the palate and easy to drink. There’s no need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

Bottle. In aroma mostly notes of coffee and chocolate. There are also some milky notes. The colour is dark brown. The, beige head is small and unstable - fast dissapeared. In taste is quiet full. Dominates coffee and chocolate.

33cl bb? (DE import label...), Maruhn. - Appealing hot cocoa brown pour with vanilla foam. Smell is mild, a machine café viennois using Nesquick and skimmed milk, with a touch of coffee bean. Decent amounts of milk chocolate and toasted malts in aroma, some overlap with their Doppelbock cover version there: caramels, light-mid full mouthfeel. Easy, clean drinking but not creating an immediate appetite for more.

It’s a pitch black beer, with big, quite stable, beige head and great lacing. In aroma it’s malty sweet with toasted bread notes in the back end. It’s also a bit winny and fruity with a notes of fresh cherry. For a 14,5 plate it has great body, almost full one. It’s perfectly low carbonated as well. In opposition to the aroma, taste it’s way more dry, has almost no sweetness at all. Nice roasted and toasted notes, a bit of coffee, nice bitterness in the aftertaste. It’s very good, solid beer. Worth to try.

Einstok’s roasted not Toasted Porter has many qualities of a cold weather favorite. Chocolate malts, light bitterness and coffee flavors construct a solid beer. Session-ish @ 6% ABV.

Bottle. Almost black, beige head. Aroma of roasted coffee, chocolate, caramel, very nice. In taste medium sweet with toasted and malty notes, some caramel and chocolate. A bit acidic in the finish. Meidum body, nice velvet texture, soft carbonation. Bitterness is just above the medium. Nice porter, so far the best beer from Einstok.

Bottle to glass. Pours an oily black with moderate brown head. A lot of roast on this with a thinnish mouthfeel. Moderate chocolate and restrained coffee.

On tap at Valhalla in Manhattan. Arrived in a tulip glass. Appearance: In a dimly-lit bar, this looked like a solid black stout. Not much in the way of head or lacing. Smell: Not unlike burnt toast, with underlying hints of coffee and char. Taste: Blackened bitter malts, heavy with char, and dark, burnt toast open and close the flavor profile, tumbling around one another over the tongue. A mineral tone is present throughout, lending a somewhat stony and metallic tinge to the flavor profile. There is not much in the way of additional flavors per se, simply the layers of char, toast, ash, blackened coffee, and minerality. Mouthfeel: Somewhat thin and light in body, which is fine - I’ve found the designation of "porter" and "stout" these days to be largely based on how thick or thin the mouthfeel. Easily quaffable. Overall: A solidly okay porter, with some interesting notes from the minerality involved. If said minerality is an effect of the water used, as I’ve seen suggested on reviews of the Einstok White, then I’m looking forward to trying that beer.

Pours in dark with little foam. Smooth espresso flavor with some dark chocolate. Not creamy, quite drinkable.

33 cl bottle@home in Trappist glass@approx. 10 degrees C. Pours almost black with medium tan head which quickly disappears with a little lacing. Aroma dominated by toasted bread and roasted malt. Taste also of roasted malt, spiced with espresso and a touch of bitter chocolate. Aftertaste mirrors this, but a little more bitterness kicks in. Dry and not too sweet. The first couple of sips had a metallic taste disturbance, but it seems to wear off completely after a couple of minutes in the glass. Somewhat watery texture and mouthfeel. Too one-dimensional - each mouthful is much like the one before it - to score very highly, but a decent "low" ABV porter.
