COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With clear notes of espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of authentic Icelandic coffee, this Porter is dark and rich, offering a medium body that is robust, yet smooth on the palate and easy to drink. There’s no need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

Bottle at home from utobeer. Aroma is earthy walnuts, toasted dough malt and semi sweet caramel. Clear dark brown colour with a loose light tan head that fades. Flavour comprises of toasted oats, caramel, mineral, smooth roast malt. Palate is medium full body with nice soft carbonation. Lingering coffee roast. Nice.

0,33L bottle. Pours black with light tan head. The head disappears rather quickly. Aroma is sweet malt, mild chocolate, coffee. Taste is malt, burnt, light liquor, dark chocolate. Finish is nice dark chocolate bitter. Overall: carbonation is little too much for me and it is little bit too watery, average porter.

Appearance: into a snifter, dark brown pour, short, creamy dark tan head quickly shrinking to a ring. Aroma: smells awesome: sweet and, yes, toasty, with chocolate, coffee, warm nuts, and maybe a hint of toasted coconut. Taste: sweet and roasty, with dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, caramel and nuts, and again that seeming note of toasted coconut. Finish: smooth and bittersweet, with a bit of toasty, roasty character lingering. Notes: Darn good. And I got to put a pin in Iceland on the ol’ beer map.

Bottle. Deep dark brown body, small creamy head. Aroma has a touch of peat and some sweet cola but it’s all quite muted. Taste is really not very toasted, just average. Finish is mild and at times even feels watery. No milky aspects that make porters rich. Rather anonymous porter.

Bottle at Panorama Bar in KEF airport (BB Aug 2015). Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, roasted grain, coffee, Oreo cookie), lightly hoppy (herbs), with light notes of vanilla and blackberry. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Very very solid stout (porter, whatever)...more roasty and coffee-ish than Borg’s rendition (even some light berry character), and just as balanced and drinkable. Four good stouts from Iceland out of five rated, that’s pretty good odds.

Bottle which wife bought me from Harvey Nicholls, Merry Hill. Dark brown beer with medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee with some roasted malts. Taste is chocolate and coffee, lactose, burnt malts and a little earthy. Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Very good beer.

Redish with yellowish nice head. Sour hay with roasted notes, not appealing aroma. Malty, chockolate, coffee bitterness and burned in the aftertaste
