3.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2013 Bready, yeasty aroma with hints of cereal (think Cheerios) and leather. Clear, dark pour, brownish black, frothy head that dissipates quickly. Medium bodied, sweet molasses and coffee with slightly bitter burnt aftertaste with light grassiness. Overall, rather nice. I got it because it’s from Iceland and I don’t think I’ve ever had an Icelandic beer. Glad I did. Not my favorite, but definitely drinkable.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance- pretty much pitch black, opaque, a beige foamy head which quickly diminishes. Aroma- chocolate, coffee hints, dark fruits- blackcurrant particularly, a bit of liquorice, some burnt toffee, roasted malt. Taste- lots of chocolate, chewy toffee, fudgy, coffee bitterness then comes through, some cherry skin and other dark fruits in the finish, roasted malt, cocoa powder. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Very tasty.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Opaque black beer with a thick foamy head. The dominant smell is toasted malt. The same is true of the flavour. There’s some fruit, chocolate and a touch of bitter hop in there too but the rich, toasty malt dominates.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle BBE 30.10.15, bottled 10.10.13. Drunk at lower-end room temperature. Most prominent on the nose are pleasant toasted malt aromas. Dark, chocolate brown body with a surprisingly tight, creamy off-white head. Gentle sweetness on the tongue followed by a soft, dry bitterness. Typical low carbonation for a porter. Medium to light body and a fairly abrupt bitter finish. Overall an enjoyable, but slightly one-dimensional porter. Does not taste as high as 6%abv
