With clear notes of espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of authentic Icelandic coffee, this Porter is dark and rich, offering a medium body that is robust, yet smooth on the palate and easy to drink. There’s no need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

330 ml. bf 19-Mar-2016. Pours opaque ebony with a lasting disc of creamy espresso-colored foam. Big nose of chocolate toffee, espresso with cream and lightly tart blackberry. Tastes of dark toasted bread, semi-sweet chocolate, dark berry, apple, caramel and coffee. Finish has some green herb, ash and graham cracker. Near-medium body is smooth and well balanced. I like how the coffee doesn’t dominate, but just complements this (mostly) traditional English-style porter.

Toasted is a really good word for this beer. Nice roasted malt taste. Decent palate for a porter. Great balance. Nice all around.

Pours black with a nice off white fluffy head. Nose is toasty, dark chocolate, a bit of coffee, also a milky lactose note. Taste largely mirrors nose, milky, subtle notes of coffee and chocolate, a general roastiness permeates, also I find a mineral quality to the water. A mild bitterness on the finish, not very sweet. Overall this is extremely drinkable, well balanced, and delicious. Probably my favorite porter.
