With clear notes of espresso, dark chocolate and a hint of authentic Icelandic coffee, this Porter is dark and rich, offering a medium body that is robust, yet smooth on the palate and easy to drink. There’s no need to be afraid of the dark anymore.

33cl bottle, bottled 03/2012? Poured almost black with a brown lacing head. Roasty, chocolaty aroma with oat smootness and coffee. Flavor is roasted malty, even more coffee and light sweetness. Finish is drier with chocolate mousse. Creamy, oily, medium body. Great porter, my first from Iceland.

It works very well. Chocolate, with liquorice, vanilla; no burnt flavours, very clean.

Bottle at home. A pretty standard, but well made, porter. Aroma and flavors of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, flat cola. Nice smooth mouthfeel. A bit of wood and sweetness on the finish. High drinkability.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Slowly diminishing tan-coloured head to deep ebony, red tinted, coloured body. Dark malty smell, discreet smoked. Fine blended taste of mid-sweet chocolate, salty liquorice, ash and a little smoke. Malt bitterness to the finish. Smooth oily palate. Clean in the mouth. Drinks well (at home, Tromsø 06.12.2014).

Bottle at Our Black Heart, Camden on 23 Jun 2012. Poured black, with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, treacle and light coffee. Medium to full mouthfeel, with quite a lot of carbonation. Burnt malt in the flavour, with dark chocolate and rye bread. Finish was quite light, some residual caramel, toast and ash.

330ml bottle from Stanmore and Boss, Sheffield - deep black body, thin beige head, good looking beer. Nose is harsh espresso, coffee bean, black chocolate and roasted nuts. Taste has a black coffee feel, very rich and burnt, but has a fantastic clean and velvety chocolatey mouthfeel. The only downside is it follows an epic beerography earlier in the night. I might try this again in the future and re-rate with a clear head.
