I find it quite remarkable that I sit in my lounge in New Zealand, able to drink a product from Iceland. Just remarkable. Anyway, so this is hazy pale yellow in colour with a skim of transient white head. Aromas of lemons, faintly chemical Belgian ale yeast and meringue. Pleasant enough. Quite vigorous carbonation in the mouth followed by gentle flavours of those same lemons that isn’t sweet and isn’t sour either. There’s a definite but gentle tang at the beginning of the end. At face value this is a pleasant lunchtime snifter but not the most complex or assertive beer I have drunk. But still, it’s Icelandic! It has novelty value for me I suppose.

330 ml bottle, from the taxfree store at Billund Airport, Denmark. ABV is 5.2%, 12.8% Plato. Practically clear and very pale yellow colour, moderate to low white head. Strong aroma of grassy and herbal German or Czech pilsener hops, no sign of this being a witbier. Dry and crisp flavour, now with citrussy notes (lemon/lime rather than orange peel), but still not much witbier character. Refreshing though - my rating is, as always, hedonistic - if I rated by style, the score would be lower.

Bottle at home. Pours a cloudy matt yellow colour with a creamy white head. Aroma of mowed grass, lemongrass, lime, coriander, Belgian yeast, citrus, white bread and dry hay. Fruity flavour as well with more citrus, perfumy soap, grass and dry hay. Has slick and light mouth feel, medium body and a light bitterness. A fresh and light type of witbier. Decent enough.

Bottle 33cl, a cloudy yellow beer with huge head and good retention. Nose is floral, sweet like, lemon and vitamin c notes. Taste is sweet with sour touch, aroma is floral even if very less than the nose, wheat notes, not a very clean body and not sure the sour dimension is wanted. So unbalanced and watery, bit boring. Lemony finish.

Bottle from Corks of Cotham. Medium head, light yellow colour, hazy, fair lacing. Aroma of grass, yeasts, herbs and a very bit of fruits. Lightly sour taste with bitter aftertaste. Light body, watery, lively. Alright, refreshing, but no excitement.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2016 Bottle in wine glass. The coriander and orange peel is really present in this one. The aroma is colorful like some soft marshmallow candy while the taste really leaves a coriander leafy tail that lasts.

330 ml bottle into pine glass, bottled on 3/29/2016. Pours hazy golden straw color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, orange peel, coriander, pepper, clove, wheat, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, orange peel, coriander, pepper, clove, wheat, white bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, orange peel, coriander, pepper, clove, wheat, white bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, creamy/grainy, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.2%. Overall this is a delicious witbier! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
