3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours amber / red-brown with light off white and non-persistent head. Nice medium smoky-malty aroma with little to no hop aroma. Great bacon-smoke flavor in the Rauchbier tradition. Low to medium hop bitterness. Has a "fortified" taste that I have detected in a couple other Brazilan beers, and I don’t know what it is. Almost like Coca-Cola was used as sugar to jack up the alcohol. Medium bodied. Whether it is this Rauchbier or better yet, an Schlenkerla, you must have this style of beer when eating a Reuben sandwich!!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
355ml bottle served in a mug.
A: Pours a dark amber to brown clear color (nutty color) forming a medium yellow aired head which dissipates quickly. Only few lacings left
S: Smoked malts. Toffee, caramel, caramel malts. Bacon. Bready yeasts. Light notes of flowery hops
T: Follows the nose. Sweet upfront. Notes of toffee, caramel, caramel malts, roasted malts, bacon. Quite biscuity. Good and moderate bitterness which is a mix of roasted and smoked malts and hops
M: Medium body. A little bit molasses. Good carbonation. Sweet upfront and mild roasted bitter aftertaste
O: Good drinkability. Great Rauchbier made in Brazil

Has a beautiful dark amber color. The smoked taste is quite nice. A lot of malt. It goes down smoothly and offers a lot of taste. Very well done.

Belo creme!
Degustada novamente no dia 20/09/11. Confirmadas as impressões anteriores. Talvez tenha sentido um resquício de cinzas desta vez... Talvez...

Una buona birra, molto bevibile e poco affumicata. Con un carattere tutto suo che la rende bevibile.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled 355ml. -from big Carrefour in Sorocaba, Brazil. Darker amber coloured, small off-white head, no trace of smoke in the nose. Sweet malty, some caramel, and mild smoked ham with notes of hops in the finish. Pretty light one but not bad at all.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
355ml bottle. Copper brown body with off white head that dissipates quickly. Nose has smoky elements but is mainly sweet caramel malts. Taste is a little too sweet for a rauchbier with the smoky bacon flavours coming through on the mid palate and beyond. Medium bodied with an oily texture. Good to try a Brazilian beer that isn’t the usual light lager though.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 ounce bottle purchased at Mercado de Ponta Negra in Natal, Brazil. Bottled December 2013. Mild to moderate smokiness is present in the aroma. Pleasant, but not overpowering. Light mineral. Otherwise, clean aroma. Mildly hazy amber body with a small, quickly dissipating whitish head present. Starts with a light caramel and toffee malt sweetness, before the smoked malts come through in the middle and end. Mild to moderate smokiness, and not a total palate-killer. There is a bit of a weird awkward metallic lagery flavor late, however.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
As I see it, Eisenbahn is like a Brazilian Kunstmann. It has probably the same marketing strategy and the same brewing philosophy as the Chilean brewer. Their beers are a category of industrial brewers that try to offer a better-made product for the ones that grew tired of drinking the usual swill. This one pours a hazy amber with an off-white small head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is lightly smokey with a round malty backbone complimented by fruity undertones and soft floral hops. Taste is sweet with some of the smoke coming out in the aftertaste only. Most of it has touches of caramel and red overripe fruits. The texture is oily and pretty thick. Rich and fulfilling although I would have preferred more smoke and less sweetness (more dryness). Good effort anyway.
