Vac (2161), San Diego, California, USA Apr 7, 2008 Bottle at O’briens. Pours with a deep amber body topped by a thin to medium thick, quickly disappearing head wtih some lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and malty with a hint of grassy hops. Not really any smokey notes. The flavor is sweet and smokey with notes of molasses. Kinda tastes like smoked salmon. Light bodied, crisp and a little dry.
sebletitje (104), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 29, 2008 batch 05. Pours amber with a quasi non existant head.
Nose is lightly smoky. Aroma is a sweet and enjoyable smoky. Some caramel malt. Highly enjoyable.
This is a a great beer to start with if you plan on trying stronger more intense flavored Rauchbier. bitbucket (1447), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 19, 2008 Bottle. This beer has the color, aroma and taste of BacOs TM. Actually, it doesn’t have the fakey quality of BacOs, but it does have a much more subdued smoky quality than the German Rauchbiers, and is nicely quaffable. Palidor19 (1152), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 its quite nice for a smoked. It has some nice mellow malts. the smoke flavors brings a nice overall flavor. I enjoy this. nick76 (1920), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 I think the aroma is much less smoky than most smoked beer but that is a good thing. Basically the only other smell is malt. The flavor is lightly smoky and malty. The palate is thin. It’s really not my style but as smokes go this one is easy to drink. WeeHeavySD (1497), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jun 12, 2008 12oz bottle I picked up at O’brien’s to share with my gf, Cyn who loves the smoked beers. Pours dark amber with a four finger tan head. Nose is pretty smokey with some wood in there too. Taste is sweet, smokey and all together ooky, the Adams family, nevermind, it tastes pretyt good and its balanced, Not a bad smoked in my estimation.
