ghawener (636), San Salvador, El Salvador Jun 28, 2008 bottle: light caramel taste nice sweet undertones, a good change from other eisenbahns. nearbeer (1045), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 17, 2008 12 oz, batch 17. Dark brown with red highlights and a medium head that settles down and hangs well. Chocolate and lightly sweetened coffee aroma. Flavor is similar, with the delicious roasted tastes providing the bittering more so than the hops. A hint of molasses, corn, and smoke at times. Medium body is smooth, dry and has a bit of tongue tingle. Surprisingly excellent dunkel, and a great session beer. bitbucket (1447), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear ruddy brown with a lacy off-white head. Lightish body, minimal carbonation. Aroma of tootsie roll with a dash of pine. Taste of chocolate and brown sugar with a lot of nutty quality on the back end. Dry, wheaty and rather lightly bitter finish. Stew41 (839), Caulfield, Australia Jun 4, 2008 A beginner’s dunkel. Soft chocolate and coffee bean aromas and flavours. Quite light bodied and just a hint of astringency in the back palate. Drinks very easily and certainly not sweet of cloying. zebracakes (954), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 3, 2008 Bottle purchased at D’s Six Pax. Pours brown black, thin off white head. Aroma is malt, roasted nuts, caramel, coconut. Flavor is Roasted, malty, caramel, toffee. Fairly sweet but not too much so. I’d say that this is a decent dunkel.
