thornecb (975), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA May 12, 2008 Pours bright gold into a shaker. Bright white micro head with excellent retention leaves slight lacing. Sour malt aromas. Crisp and carbonated with caramel from front-to-back. Abrupt, clean finish.
ghawener (642), San Salvador, El Salvador Jun 28, 2008 bottle: plain water like thin light stale not much of anything. kolsch? where? zebracakes (959), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 17, 2008 Bottle purchased at D’s Six Pax. I wish there was a better bottle shop here in PGH. Pours orangish gold, thin white head. Aroma is hoppy and malty. Flavor is the same, pretty malty with some meatiness. The body is bread-like and more substantial than I expected. jrob_21 (829), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 8, 2008 The color on this is not incredibly appetizing. But the flavor makes up for the lack of visual enticement. Toasted grain, bread, yeast flavors. Cooling me off on this hell of a summer day. Aroma is wheat bread as well. A little carbonated bubbly finish plays on your tongue for a while after you swallow. Stew41 (841), Caulfield, Australia Jun 2, 2008 I wasn’t particularly encouraged by the rich copper rust colour, indicating the potential for sweet malt overload perhaps? Aromas are very simple, sweet, and perhaps have a slight corny / adjunct feel. Palate is certainly quite dimensional with the simple cheap malt overlay but the palate structure is quite correct, finishing with a minerally dryness that one would typical expect in the style. It’s not fair dinkum Kolsch but it’s quite loveable. zappafan99 (256), Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA May 26, 2008 Golden body/white head. Sweet malt. Very fruity (cherry) mild finish. Odd. Not well balanced . Too fruity for a Kolsch. Better than expected, but just ok.
