1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 AlvaroRevenga (23) - USA - JUL 28, 2009

Bottled. A dark golden beer with some sediment floating around under a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, oranges, and peaches, as well as a light acidity. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of yeast, as well as light notes of smoke, alcohol, and over ripe peaches, leading to a dry finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Rating #2342)
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Glouglouburp (4558) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 15, 2009
In short: An overly sweet (sugary honey) blonde sparkling blonde ale. Overpriced.
How: Bottle 750ml. Tasting session with Montreal crew. 6+ months of age.
The look: Clear golden blonde body topped by a short-lived white headbr />
In long: Nose is sweet and a little grassy. Taste is sweet, too sweet. The crunchy sweetness tastes like old honey turning sugary. The little grassy/floral hops in there are not nearly enough to counterbalance the sugary sweetness. Aggressive carbonation. Alcohol is not well hidden. The shame of the of champenoise beers. An overpriced liquid called “Lust”!!! Am I the only one who thinks that the marketing dudes of Calvin Klein or Christian Dior are involved with the Eisenbahn brewery?
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MartinT (6150) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 5, 2009
My Bottom Line:
Nearly buttery, honey-smeared straw is harmonized by alcohol heat, as a coniferous touch rides this underattenuated, bubbly Champenoise Ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam seeps into the golden blond gown, littered with tiny yeast particles.
-The honeyed sweetness lingers long after the sip is gone, which I admit I was not expecting at all from such a product.
-The mouthfeel and flavor profile are effectively champenoise, so they appear to this method down quite well. I guess the resulting flavors are just not as impressive as the Malheur Brut beers. On the other hand, it is less soapy/perfumy than Pivovarsky Dum’s example or Bosteels’ Deus.
-If this were a tad drier throughout, I’d say this was definitely worth the asking price.
Bottle.

Bottle. 06 vintage. Pours a hazy golden color with a huge bubbly fizzy white head. Aroma is sweet with white grapes, honey, light fruit, wild yeast and pale malts. Flavor is pale malts, candi sugar, yeast, fruit, alcohol and some sugary sweetness with a light to medium body and has a smooth lasting alcohol finish. Decent brew

750ml corked bottled. BB 03VAL03 2010...?
Served lightly chilled in a pilsner glass.
Probably a big mistake serving this in a thin glass and not fully chilled...gushed quite a bit...HUGE foamy white head atop a finely-beaded picturesque crystal clean golden body.
Aroma typical of these ’Champagne-style’ beers; very sweet malt, honey and light toffee, ripe stonefruits, sharp citrus and peppery spice, bready yeast.
Lively carbonation without being sharp, smooth, rich texture coats the mouth very nicely, the carbonation takes the edge of the thickness of the body.
Sweet malt body builds a solid base; biscuit, golden syrup, honey, sponge cake, followed by notes of pear, ripe peach, raisin, apple cider, pepper and clove. Finish is warming, slight drying acidity, mild bitterness.
One of the better "Champagne" beers out there. Bit cheaper than Deus, but its probably one of those beers that would only buy for special occasions or for a nice gift.
