Commercial Description:
Eisenbahn’s South American Pale Ale is well-balanced, with sweet wholesome malt, and earthy complexity, and a uniquely spicy aroma that results from a special, and secret, blend of Old and New World hops.

Pours a transparent bright bronze with a thin, wsipy-lacing white head. Aroma has a lightly sweet toasty caramel maltiness with a fairly fresh piny hop presence. Starts with a nice caramely sweetness and crisp slightly piny hop presence. Finishes smooth and bittersweet. A pretty nice pale ale.

clear brownish orange with a small creamy white head. sweet fruity hop aroma with pear syrup, and apple. flavor is fruity(apple, pear) but has some really interesting spiced notes(ginger?). an interesting take on the usual apa.

Comments: Grainy, freshly minty, bready and malt-oriented ale that nevertheless deploys a certain dryness.

21-Mar-07 (12 oz bottle, Batch 38: Purchased 14-Mar-07 for $2.11 at Liquid Solutions in Tigard, OR) The ingredients listed on the label are water, malt and hops, so there mustn’t be any yeast used to ferment this beer! Anyway, there’s something wholly unexpected with this "South American Pale Ale." After pouring the beer, I’m picking up the distinct aroma of spicy Belgian yeast. And tasting the beer, it’s very spicy (cloves), moderately hoppy and again, reminiscent of a Belgian pale ale. Pale malts are lightly bready and moderately sweet, but are mostly a background flavor for me. That’s not the case with the nose, where the bready malts are more evenly balanced against the spicy yeast aroma, especially as the beer warms. Light-medium in body, and clean and zingy on the palate, the result of the spicy yeast and ample carbonation. A hint of haze to the golden-colored beer, but it doesn’t get in the way of watching the small carbonation bubbles rise through the beer. Head is small on the pour, the off-white bubbles barely mustering a quarter-inch cap before fading to a sheen. A solid beer in its own right, but this is easily the most complex and interesting beers I’ve had from South America. I look forward to trying more of their lineup.

Bottle. Funky, leafy, spicy hops. Honey, juniper, hay, straw, earth. Dark golden pour, still clear, though, with strong visible carbonation and a lacing, creamy beige head. Crisp attack medium-full body is drenched in malt with a little bit too much perfume. Sweet and spicy with a little bit of grit from the hops and a moderately dry finish. Floral, and maybe a touch of juniper? Slighty Belgianish, certainly not an APA. Spiciness here is interesting, but on the whole, I’m not terribly interested.

Bottle: Golden color, fairly clear, soft carbonation, hefty white head, frothy, somewhat clingy lacing.   Malt/straw oriented nose.   Very little, if any, hop character.   Husky malt profile on the tongue, very subtle spices of squash or pumpkin, no hop bite at all.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Picks up more straw/grass on the exit.   Decent beer, but probably more in common with a Lager of sorts rather than a Pale Ale.   Does have a lingering cardboard aspect tho.   Meh...

12oz. bottle. Aroma of toasted grains. Yellow body with white head tha faded out like a swill. Flavor had bready dough and the malted barley roast was dominate. Stale mild bitter aftertaste with burnt grains on the palate.

Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is grassy, with some glue and fruits also. Flavour is really dry fruity and grassy hoppy with a lot of wood. Nice.
