350 ml bottle in my hotel room in Rio de Janeiro. Brazilian beer is not know for being strictly following true style, but this brewery is different from the others. This actually was authentic, right down to the hefe in the bottom of the bottle. I am not sure if Brazilians who have not been outside of the country and tasted the real thing will appreciate this beer. I’ve tasted the offering of one of the larger brewers in Brazil and it paled in comparison. I was almost scared away from the R$4.99, but in the end pleased. Easily the best beer to style that I had in Brazil. I’ll be going to Blumenau on my next trip.

Very good beer. Eisenbahn started as a a small (micro) regional brewery. They are starting to distribute through big supermarket chains pricing premiun though. Hopefully they will not loose quality going national. Molson bought Xingu, originally a regional brand from a southern state, added lots of caramel and non malted cereals to its formula and destroyed the excellent Xingu

Hazy yellow, small white head. Nose is yeasty, sugary-caramelly sweet, some banana notes. Dry and wheaty. Very light and watery pale hefeweizen.
