3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ALLOVATE (2098) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - MAR 26, 2013
Love the simplicity of the label, love the tight aroma and bright, sourish hops on the palate. This is a strange one and goes against the grain of most of the pale ales on the market. It starts off with a persistent dollop of white atop a hazed, pastel orange body. Bright, fruity and tart nose showing under-ripe honeydew, lime zest, grapefruit and desert lime pulp with an underlying biscuity sweetness. Light malt front overpowered by quenching, tart and tight hops and yeasty notes. Sour, bitter fruit and rough pine backend precedes a fresh citrus finish that fades rapidly. Body is light but its firm presence and soft and creamy feel give it a weight beyond its gravity. Quite impressive; one I’ll have to grab a hold of fresh bottled!! 3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 imaragingbull (495) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - OCT 19, 2012
Bottle. Pours lightly hazed orange gold with big tight creamy off white head. Off-beat mix of aromas close, but distant to your typical APA aroma showcasing - lemons, lime, pine, other orange citrus, grain, light malt, earthen yeast, dough. Light medium body, med-high carbonation, generous bitterness - light hop flavour, but refreshing nature finishing with a light grassy pine citrus with a balance of the malt.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 fletchfighters (817) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 24, 2012
Bottle date of 21/11/11
5.7 ABV
A-- Poured a hazy, nearly opaque, orange amber color. One finger dirty white head. Sticks around a good while before settling to a nice looking soapy film with a good collar. No lacing with this.
S-- Dirty grapefruit, orange, lemon and passion fruit. Big malt backbone.
T-- A mixture of orange marmalade, pineapple, passion fruit, burnt toffee, and somewhat soapy.
M-- Kind of all over the board. Thin in spots, under carbonated, and lacks balance. Finishes well, a pungent orange and sour grapefruit but lacking a spark that carbonation has for it. Needs to be crisper.
O-- Have had some really good and some really not so good batches. lots of batch variation with this. Good looking and good smelling beer but lacks a lot in the taste and feel.
