The IBU (International Bittering Unit) is around the 50 IBU mark, giving it a reasonable bite.
This beer is both unfiltered and unpasteurised. We also use only natural ingredients including malt, hops, yeast and water.

Keg. Poured a hazy golden amber with a small but lasting, lacing white head. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, nectarine and apricot following through onto the palate coupled with a biscuity malt character. Medium body, medium carbonation and a protracting, good intensity bitterness in the finish. Big, bitter but mostly balanced.

Draught at Embassy Hotel, Brisbane. Poured a clear golden amber with a one-finger white foamy head that retained OK and laced poorly. Carbonation low and fine. Taste of strong pine and citrus/grapefruit. Taste with hints of sweet caramel but mostly of a nice grapefruit/citrus bitterness. Light body, mouthfeel a bit thin. Smooth, crisp, lightish with a nice tangy grapefruit/citrus bitterness on the finish.

Bottle. Clear amber with a white head. Aroma is assertively piney, with grapefruit, nectarine, toast. A bit over the top with the pine, really. Sweet carmale and biscuit, load of pine, rather less grapefruit. A bit weedy at the fairly bitter end.

Pours a clear amber colour with a tall frothy white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, caramel and some hops. Taste is light sweet leading to a moderate bitter hop finish. Not bad.

At just on cool and into a snifter. Hazy, dull orange amber body with very fine carbonation. The head goes up and quickly fades back to a thin and lasting pad of white. Resinous, pine-forest of hops on the nose; very raw, woody and almost phenolic spicy with a tinge of burnt nut husks. Again its a furious pine-forest of raw, woody hops, bitter, weedy and herbal, and all encompassing. Bitter finish is a little harsh and offsets any chance of balance. Malt lies dormant, nutty and gritty; the body light and the carbonation low giving it an almost creamy mouthfeel. Whilst there are so many negatives in my notes I actually didn’t mind this. It profiles its hops well, but their aggression could be restrained a little and this would be a winner. One to try again! (33cL, Bottld on 02/11/12, 6.0% ABV, Cellarbrations Carlisle)

330mL bottle with hand written bottling date and ABV. Pours a nice slightly cloudy copper hue with a small white head and a skunky aroma (must have been light stuck). The skunky aroma follows through to the flavour.. this beer has defiantly spent some time in the sun. I will rerate at a later date. This bottles is going down the sink =(

A-- Poured a dark amber color (IPA?), very little of a head with the pour. What was there was off white in color. Good head retention when swirling. Well better than the pour. Got at least a half a finger of head. Lots of little beads of carbonation with the pour and for a while afterwards. S-- More of a floral orange citrus based smell. Flashes of grapefruit and lemon but more orange. More malt based smell also. Get more of a toffee type smell. Nothing overwhelming. Smell wise close to an ESB to me. T-- Orange, lemon, and butterscotch. A little bit oily but that is OK. M-- Picks up a lot in the mouthfeel. Get the toffee like malts and also get the hops. Hops are more active in the mouth. Get orange lemon and some pine and grapefruit. Not real big but balanced in a way. Get a bit of a prickly feel on the tongue and the hop feel sticks around a while. D-- Well hidden ABV (6.3%). For what it lacks in the first 2 parts it does pick up in the mouthfeel and drinkability. Interesting idea on using English malts with US hops. Get kind of a cross between a ESB and a mellower style US IPA. Could do 2 in a sitting but that might be it. Not a bad version and better than some other larger breweries efforts in IPA’s here.
