COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Pours nearly clear orange with a 1 finger, frothy beige head. Aroma is sweet caramel, sweet white bread rolls, cereal grain, sweet grass, woody notes, light sweet bread spice and hints of nut brittle. Flavor is sweet caramel, bread pudding, raisin puree, sweet hay, caramel coated granola, spicy hops, sweet bread spice, cereal grain, white bread crust, toasted nuts and anise. Palate is medium to heavy in body, a little syrupy on entry and pleasantly warm and slightly dry with alcohol after that and a moderate carbonation. Pretty tasty Eisbock, sweet and rich, but not overly so. Could be a little more complex and less hotly boozy though.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a decent cream colored head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Taste is malt, caramel, dark fruit and alcohol. Sweet and potent.

Eku 28 on kuparin värinen ja muodostaa valkoista vaahtoa. Tuoksu on makean maltainen, hedelmäinen ja alkomainen. Maku on makea ja hedelmäinen. Alkoholin potku suussa on tuntuva. Paksua litkua. Melko paljon potkua tästä tosiaan löytyy. Jos Eku olisi pornotähti olisi sillä 28 senttiä pitkä.

Last one from a sixer purchased in May. This beer seems to not compare favorably with its corporate cousin Kulmbacher, which I will rate next for perspective. (Clearly a bad idea.) 28 is a beautiful cherry wood color and very effervescent for its strength, which prevents it from holding its tan head for more than a minute. Massive wafts of fruit, malt, and alcohol fill out the nose. Very sweet candy flavor, but the high proof gives it a slightly medicinal feel. Yeasty and acidic as well. In spite of the description notes, this beer is cloying - down right slimy in fact. Recommends serving at wine cellar temperature, but I feel that since this beer was born from freezing, it is best served near there as well. Very impressive dessert beer

Big, sweet, thick and malty. Smells like a malted milk - nose is huge. Deep beautiful amber, dense but thin head ( I reckon this was chilled too much) very sticky lacing, very fine texture, creamy and sticky, acidic, tart and sweet with a sparkling tongue.

Clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, fruity and alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish with warming alcohol. 031211

A very good beer. Caramel in taste and sweet. Golden red in colour with a white head.

bottle in a pint glass - pours clear caramel with white head and light lacing. Nose is strong caramel malts, alcohol, and old-time-y fruit. Aroma is bread/caramel and more alcohol. Taste is predominantly sweet but presents itself slowly. Has the aftertaste of an European Lager/pale Belgian beer. Full body and texture is sticky. Overall, this would rank higher if the alcohol was masked better. A great winter beer nonetheless.
