3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Butters (2836) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - APR 30, 2009
Sampled at Beerhawk’s Beer Gods in the Boro, aka 1000 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, By God Beer God Gathering, BG1K Tasting. Rich orange amber pour with fading off white head. Sweet vanilla, brown sugar, and alcohol. Not that bad, but nothing crazy special.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 yemenmocha (657) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - APR 23, 2009
Pours perfect amber. Glorious! Think white head doesn’t last long.
Nose is very spirit like. Reminds me of Macallan, maybe Glenkinchie single malt.
Thick, full bodied, alcoholic warmth, and caramel infused syrupy.
Warm and honeyed towards the finish. Aftertaste is very malty sweet.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tgncc (1793) - Bellmore, New York, USA - APR 22, 2009
Beautiful aroma of sweet ripened fruits, malty, bread-like, brown sugar. The appearance is also very attractive, a nice copper red color, substantial off-white head. The flavor was very sweet, but not cloying, fruity, brown sugar, slight alcohol (not much considering the abv), baked bread. The finish is where the alcohol comes out, aleaving an alcohol burn in the back of the throat. The finish has a very light bittering hoppiness as well. The mouthfeel is thick, and has a slickness to it as well. I really enjoy this style. While this is not the best Eisbock, it is certainly very enjoyable. Only the fact that it’s a little too boozy keeps it from being a classic.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerHawk (1580) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - APR 7, 2009
Bottle. Poured amber with an off-white head that settles to a ring and left light lace. Sweet aromas of brown sugar, honey, and a light alcohol backing. The flavor found honey and malt with a light bourbon undertone. Medium body and sweet.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 lithy (2913) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 5, 2009
BeerHawk’s Beer Gods in the Boro, aka 1000 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, By God Beer God Gathering, BG1K Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to BeerHawk. Lightly red-orange with a light off white ring. Aroma of brown sugar. Taste is just pure brown sugar, very very sweet. Enjoyable in small sips.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 krysztofar (344) - belleville, Illinois, USA - MAR 30, 2009
120z bottle. clean and coppery in color. pours with a slightly yellowed head. has a big malty sweet nose. distinctly german style malt aroma.fuity candied apricot comes to mind. rich thick and sappy mouthfeel. prickly carbonation marries well with a hop flavor that is mildly spicy and a tad sharp. sherry or port this is not. for starters its carbonated. but i see the comparison because desert it is. sweet and full pair with? i’m not sure-a cup of coffee? ha
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 carruthm (1396) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 24, 2009
first whiff is of barley and light alcohol, aroma travels well, sweet sugar, and some grassy wheat elements. pleasant and hints at a strong sweet flavor. taste matches that with a burst from the alcohol and jam packed sugaryness. My pour lacked much staying power in the head, but it was bubbly and a orangeish brown hue. palate is a little hot from the ABV, carbonated. Overall, it’s got a lot of good parts and nothing really bad, but the combination of bubbles and alcohol puts me off a bit. It gets a bit better as it airs out but also acquires a more liquor like personality.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 MrBunn (2006) - Western, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 21, 2009
Bottle. Pour is a coppery amber with little head and aromas that remind me of bananas and bourbon. Flavor has an overwhelming bourbon edge to them that is really astringent in the aftertaste. I didn’t enjoy this Eisbock very much.
