Nice banana and port nose with hints of smoke as well as butter rum. Nice powerful mouthfeel with hints of toffee, nuts, raisens, chocolate, and pure brown sugar malt sweetness. A very nice beer that is very underappreciated. iep (229), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 18, 2007 Dark transparant orange/copper with a small head. Sweet and malty aroma; toffee, caramel, sweet cookie-dough, port, candy sugar, alcohol, raisins. The taste was also dominated by the malt, very sweet & full-bodied, with enjoyable roasted malt notes. Medium/long finish. Large and thick mouthfeel, almost cloying from the sweet full-bodiedness, medium/light carbonation. Tasty. Poperinge (359), Cowtown, Alberta, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 18, 2007 At a 11% this seems more like a tangerine cough syrup than a beer. Kulmbacker makes a better Eisbock than this one. Page 155 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide only 413 out 500 Classic Brews to go. Ibrew2or3 (2848), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Feb 15, 2007 11.2oz bottle poured a clear copper with off white head that vanished in seconds. Nice strong malty and dark fruit aroma. I get semi sweet caramel, dates, plums, alcohol and a slight hint of olives. This has a nice rich mouth feel. At the start I get a slight hint of olive, some tasty caramel and solid dark fruitiness. By midway the caramel sweetens and builds. Beyond midway the fruitiness takes over somewhat with growing alcohol warmth in the background. All of the flavor notes listed on the label really came true for me. This beer just reached out and gave me a warm hug. HopBackDoc (395), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of fruity wine and malts. Flavor was malts, candy sugar, and a bit fruity. Too sweet and syrupy for my taste. It looked very nice, but I guess just not my type of beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 14, 2007 A nice eisbock. I don’t drink German beers very often and when I do I wonder why. This beer was like a wine. The pours was a thick red with a tan 2 finger head that left quickly. The aroma was wine and malt. The taste was chewy carmel with malt and alcohol. I don’t have much experience with eisbocks but if this is considered a sub par one, I must search out a good one ’cuz this is great. BeerBelcher (945), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2007 This beer tasted like a dunkel that had been distilled. While I know nothing about the history of this beer, it struck me that this beer may have been launched when high-alc alone was enough to distinguish you from other beers. But in a marketplace where we have an abundance of dubels, tripels, and quads, in addition to barley-wine, old ale and other high-alc styles, I’m not sure this beer measures up so well.
It poured with little to no head. It had a sweet malt aroma, and a pleasant malt/bourbon/caramel/spice flavor. Not bad, but not as complex/nuanced as I was led by the label description to expect. Mouthfeel was full and slightly puckery. This beer is not extremely drinkable, but I don’t think its supposed to be! eyesandsmiles (179), Mission Viejo, California, USA
