COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Had a bottle at the Root Bar in Swannanoa, which has a pretty decent selection of imports available. Poured a deep orange-amber color with a fluffy tan head. The alcohol in this beer is very prominent, which, honestly, was the reason why I chose this beer to begin with, so I was satisfied. Haven’t had too many Eisbocks, but it’s a style I’ll happily imbibe in the future.

330. Pours a deep ruby amber with a towering off-white sudsy head. I remember flying down to SF and buying some of this beer in 95. We’d been pestering the WSLCB to let SA Triple Bock into the state, to no avail. Some friends suggested I hunt this one down at a more civilized beer store at points south, so I did. Then as now I was unprepared for the syrupy sweetness of this beer. The nose just smacks you around with maple syrup, caramel, butterscotch, white sugar--no shortage of varieties of flavors, but unfortunately they’re all in the same flavor family. I think I’ll always associate this beer with Elf and Will Ferrell’s love of sugar in that movie, because that strikes me as the ideal demographic for this beer. Elves. It’s just too much--the bubbles have to fight to get through the goop; the body’s huge and heavy and the malt syrupy sugary cloy just commands the room every time you take a sip. You can’t think about anything else. Interesting, and I’m glad it’s for sale in the state now, and I’m glad it’s back in my cellar, but this’ll prolly be the last bottle of it at my place for a while.

Copper colored with a thick head. Very boozy aroma with caramel notes and maltiness. Palate is sticky with dried fruit taste and a bit of bite. Not as much going on as some doppelbocks, thus not one of my faves.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2008 A very strong beer. The taste of alcohol is there. A very special taste as well ice cold as not so cold. Really a beer for persons who have experience with strong beer

Poured a hazy peachy amber. The head was thick, creamy and a bit yellow (see pic). The aroma showed mellow fruit, plum, fig. Some dry alcohol too. The flavor shows the 11%, some musty fig, and sweet fruit. The palate is dry and warm and the finish goes down warm and heats the stomach.

Bottle from Turdferguson. Heavy malt and light spices in the aroma. Copper body with a nice head. Full palate. Heavy malt, some more malt, and a little bit of heat after that. Pretty one-dimensional, but nice flavor.

so here we are. the old ’malt bomb.’ thats what they used to call this beer at the moan and dove. maybe thay still do. I had do drink it then when I was doing my ’list.’ and I remember it being much more powerful than this that I am sipping on tonight. Pours a golden amber with a thin white head. Nose of apple juice, cotton candy, ground black pepper and alcohol. Flavor is sweet and malty, as would be expected, but not as "in yo face mo fo" as I expected. Just kind blah, which is rare for an eisbock. Lightly syruppy mouthfeel.
