COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2004 Bottle: Virtually no head and no lacing. Aroma is of raisins, sugar and alcohol. Not positive since I was in a dimly lit bar, but color seems to be an amber. Taste at first is dominated by raisin and slight alcohol. As I drink it alcohol tastes becomes stronger to the point that it becomes too dominant. Label states something along the lines of just sweet enough but I think it starts too sweet and ends with too much of an alcohol taste. I'd prefer something else. This is the worst beer I've ever had. The only reason it ties with another is because the aroma is pretty good.

Can courtesy of Piscator34: Poured a deep burgundy color beer with a small off-white foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of sweet cookie dough with some dry plums was very interesting and enjoyable. Some sweet cookie malt with some plums and dry figs characteristics, which made this very enjoyable, also dominated taste. Body is a bit light and alcohol was not overly pronounced. Not exactly sure why this is getting such low ratings – I though it was a well craft eisbock.

$2.99 at Country Club Liquors; Caramelly, malty nose with some peachiness; copper with a beige ring of bubbles around the edge; flavor tastes like a whiskey mixed with berries, very unusual, like nothing else I’VE tasted,

.33l bottle, Clear, deep reddish amber. Foamy white lager head. Aroma of dried fruit, raisins,Malt, slight brandy. Flavor is big caramel, toffee, lots of residual sweetness. Syrupy mouthfeel. Very strong, high alcohol. Even a newbie can detect the strength of the German version of a BarleyWine!

Bottle thanks to largadeer. Pours a surprisingly pale reddish-amber color with a one-finger off-white head that leaves good lacing. Sweet malty aroma, caramel, toffee, and a little spice. The flavor is really nice, if not too intense. Sweet caramel and toffee, plum, fig, date, and spice. Smooth and medium-bodied for the style with soft carbonation. Really great for the style.

Shared this one w/ SkyCop32. Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. Pours a reddish brown. Sweet caramel/roasty aroma. Roast malt/chocolate flavor with a touch of fruit and great hops.

Bottle shared with Bret. Murky amber color with a small head. Awesome malty aroma. Taste is sweet, yet dry with some dried fruits. Slightly smokey and really drinkable.
